Social media support for women journalists in Somalia
Contract
This is a UNV contract. More about UNV contracts.
In 2021 UNDP’s Somali Women Media Project (SWoMP), created the country’s first all-women media team – Bilan Media – and continues to provide them with support to challenge adverse gender norms, open new opportunities for women in professional roles and bring new subjects to public debate. In addition, the project supports other women journalists in the Federal Member States as well as advocating more generally for women journalists’ workplace rights and against online harassment.
In support of these efforts, UNDP seeks to engage a volunteer social media professional to support training efforts and promotion of Bilan’s reporting.
Under the overall authority of the SWoMP Project Manager, the Online Volunteer will:
Review of Bilan’s social media channels and suggest improvements and a plan for producing content and building followers
Provide weekly training for Bilan journalists in Mogadishu and the FMSes (1 hour once a week for the team in Mogadishu and 1 hour once a week for one group of journalists from the FMSes) on how to use and build followers on X, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube and TikTok, including content production using video, graphics and AI (class groups and scheduling can be adjusted as needed)
Produce promotional clips, graphics and posts for Bilan’s reports
Add subtitles (which will be provided) to Bilan media video reports and adjust for various social media formats
Candidates should have professional experience in social media production and promotion.
