This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

In order to support the implementation of this initiative, as well as to foster knowledge about UN Volunteers among different UNICEF Operations in the Arab Region, UNICEF and UNV ROs agreed to dedicate a capacity (Na-tional UN Volunteer) to the UNICEF Regional Office for one year to coordinate the partnership efforts.

The fundamental mission of UNICEF is to promote the rights of every child, everywhere, in everything the organization does — in programmes, in advocacy and in operations. The equity strategy, emphasizing the most disadvantaged and excluded children and families, translates this commitment to children’s rights into action. Ensuring there is a holistic SBC services for all children is one of the key focuses for UNICEF Field Office in Dohuk across Health/Nutrition, WASH, Child Protection, ADAP, Education, Social inclusion, Gender and person’s living with disability including Communication and Advocacy. This consultancy will support the implementation of SBC interventions on the ground, as per the Dohuk Field workplans. The envisaged work includes: • Supporting the delivery of the SBC focus areas as per the sections workplans and aligning with the SBC strategy. Ensuring progress tracking and reporting to the Chief of Field Office. • Building capacities of the internal and external stakeholders based on the SBC guide-lines/toolkits to inform, mobilize and communicate with potential beneficiaries. • Lead on the funds management and utilization of the grants , allocated to SBC and report regularly on the same. • Support behavioural research on key priority issues like ECD, Routine Immunization, Climate change but not limited too, with technical guidance from Country office. • Production and dissemination of SBCC communication materials to promote key life-saving behaviors.

The assignment will include regular mission travels including joint visits with other key sec-tions at the Dohuk field Office (coverage areas which include districts and subdistricts within Ninewa and Dohuk governorate administrative boundaries, including IDP and refugee camps in Dohuk and Ninewa).

National UN Specialist Volunteers in Jordan are entitled to:

  • Monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) at the amount of USD 1501.91 ;

Under the direct supervision of Chief Field Office , Dohuk and a technical line of reporting to SBC, Chief of section at the Country office, the UNV provides technical and operational support, administering, executing and implementing a variety of tasks to promote community engagement and participation, and measurable behavioral and social change/mobilization, requiring the application of technical and theoretical skills and the study of organizational goals, rules, regulations, policies and procedures. The key tasks are outlined below;

  1. Support to strategy design and development of SBCC activities:

•Research and/or participate in conducting comprehensive SBCC situation analysis of social, cultural, economic, communication and political issues in the country. •Collect, draft and/or organize materials and related documentation for SBCC strategies and plans to ensure optimum impact, scale and sustainability of achievements/results. •Assess and/or recommend appropriate information and materials for SBCC initiatives verifying accuracy and quality for dissemination. •Assess the impact of SBCC activities at the Field Office to achieve measurable behavioral and social change resulting in the improvement of children’s rights and well-being. Submit qualitative report/synthesis of results for development planning and improvement.

  1. Support to the implementation of SBCC activities

•Collaborate with internal and external partners to provide operational and technical support to the design of SBCC strategies, and research, develop, test, produce and use quality SBCC materials and/or organize events and activities to ensure maximum outreach and impact on the behavioural and social change of target audience. •Provide technical, administrative and logistical support and background materials to carry out SBCC activities and recommend operational strategies, approaches, plans, methods and procedures. •Assess and recommend potential contacts, networks, resources and tools to support the maximum impact and outreach of SBCC initiatives. •Follow up on the production of SBCC materials to ensure technical quality, consistency and relevancy of communications materials that are developed, produced and disseminated to target audiences (e.g. individuals, communities, government officials, partners, media etc). •Collect, assess and organize information for budget planning and management of programme funds and prepare documentations and related materials for financial plan for SBCC initiatives. Monitor/track the use of resources as planned and verify compliance with organizational guidelines, rules and regulations and standards of ethics and transparency.

  1. Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building

•Support the organization, administration and implementation of capacity building initiatives to enhance the competencies of clients/stakeholders/partners across programme sectors in SBCC planning, implementation and evaluation in support of pro-grammes/projects. Develop training materials for training activities and revise them periodically for improvements and updates. •Continue to support innovative platforms like Digital dashboard, Rumour tracking tool to support SBC programming
