Generic responsibilities

  1. Ensure compliance with NRC policies, guidelines and standards
  2. Ensure compliance with Site Management strategy, tools, handbooks, guidelines, and standards
  3. Site Management technical responsibility for implementation of technical activities of the project
  4. Site Management specific technical responsibility for the quality control and monitoring of project activities
  5. Site Management technical responsibility for project documentation of technical activities of the project
  6. Provide specific technical analysis and feedback to NRC representatives in coordination meetings
  7. Assess, promote and document ideas for technical improvement and further program development options
  8. Ensure that projects target project participants most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist
  9. Promote the rights of refugees/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy
  10. Conduct quality control and provide technical support to operating partners and/or service providers

Specific responsibilities

  • Providing information provision in the are of protection from violence (including child safeguarding, Gender Based Violence, violence against children, human trafficking) to the project participants
  • Supporting Site Management Coordinator, Team Leaders, translators, operating partners and service providers in the area of safe and checked referrals to local specialists, humanitarian actors and services as needed
  • Drafting mapping of services and updating on monthly basis in line with SIP guidelines and CCCM minimum standards and distributing among other NRC staff, operating partners and service providers
  • Providing referrals to the specialised services and, where needed, accompaniment to these services (including psychiatric hospitals, police, local and international case management actors in Poland, UN agencies, local and national authorities, etc.)
  • Mitigating risks of violence at the East Warsaw Transit Site through regular protection risk assessments via NRC tools, including Focus Group Discussions, Key Informant Interviews and KOBO questionnaires with project participants
  • Escalating serious protection incidents to the line manager and relevant services (e.g. security, ambulance, etc.) for immediate coordination and action
  • Maintaining a referral tracker at the Transit Site and, where possible and appropriate, doing a follow up of the referral
  • Conducting daily KOBO questionnaires on the quality of services with project participants
  • Providing support to Site Management Coordinator, Team Leaders, translators, operating partners and service providers in incident reporting as per NRC incident reporting guidelines and procedures
  • Identifying, monitoring and reporting to Line Manager any cases related to protection from violence, including updating Protection Referral Tracker
  • Providing access and informing about Complaint and Feedback Mechanism (CFM) to project participants through multiple channels (including QR code, phone number, in person feedback, written form)
  • Coordinating with local and international actors in terms of available protection services to project participants (including refugees from Ukraine, as well as Third Country Nationals, and other vulnerable groups) and informing rest of NRC staff accordingly during weekly coordination meetings
  • Monitoring and updating any information materials distributed at the Transit Site for relevance to the project participants, ensuring their safety and security, and disposing of any leaflets, posters or banners, or any other promotional or information materials breaching safety, security or wellbeing of project participants
  • Any other activities as per Line Manager’s request.

Professional competencies

Generic professional competencies for this position:

  • Experience from working within Site Management technical expertise area in a humanitarian/ recovery context
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Site Management expertise (including Protection from Violence and Protection Mainstreaming)
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Fluency in Polish, Ukrainian and/or Russian, both written and verbal, basic English desirable
