The UNESCO Associated Schools Network (ASPnet) is looking for 4 online volunteers to provide simultaneous interpretation English-Spanish, Spanish-English during a Global Meeting, which takes place on 19-23 April 2021 from 1-5pm CET, including breaks. A team of 4 volunteers will share the task and work in a rotating principle. 10 sessions with a duration of 1,5 hours each will take place during this 5-day long assignment. The topics of the sessions range from Global Citizenship Education for Sustainable Development, “Story Circles” Training of trainers on inter-cultural competencies to aligning curricula, pedagogies and assessment for transformative education. The volunteer will highly contribute to the exchange and understanding of the participating deans, teacher educators, teacher students and ASPnet National Coordinators from 19 countries, as well as representatives from UNESCO Programme Sections and UNESCO Institutes and Centres from across the world.

    The UNESCO Associated Schools Network (ASPnet) links educational institutions across the world around a common goal: ‘to construct the defences of peace in the minds of children and young people’. Established in 1953, ASPnet promotes the ideals and values of UNESCO by reinforcing the humanistic, ethical, cultural and international dimensions of education. UNESCO ASPnet connects more than 11,500 institutions in over 180 countries, which provide pre-primary, primary, secondary, technical or vocational education, or teacher training. The Global Meeting’s objective is to provide ASPnet Teacher Education & Training Institutions with inspirational discussions and learning opportunities in support of their development and implementation of change experiments and projects on Global Citizenship Education for Sustainable Development. Online Volunteers will make a crucial contribution to advance this mission and make meetings accessible. We will credit the Online Volunteers by providing recognition letters signed by the Chief of UNESCO ASPnet

  • Volunteers: 4 needed

  • 11-20 hours per week / 1 weeks

    Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate simultaneously, in both directions, between English - Spanish and Spanish - English. A strong and stable internet connection is primordial with headset, microphone and a webcam to facilitate the translation process. We will provide a training session prior to the first meeting. Familiarity with technical terms related to Ed. for Sustainable Development, Global Citizenship Ed. and Sust. Development Goals will be considered an advantage.
