Provide brief description of relevant living conditions in duty station – The area is accessible to UNHCR and is considered low-risk in terms of security in the SRM. UNHCR has had no accessibility issues in recent years, all of the IDP camps are accessible by vehicles and no air travel available in the governorate of Duhok. According to the Köppen-Geiger climate classification system, Duhok, like most of Upper Mesopotamia, has a hot-summer Mediterranean climate (Csa) featuring very hot, virtually rainless summers and cool to cold, wet winters. The average cost of living in Duhok is $600, which is in the top 22% of the least expensive cities in the world. Medical facilities are available within the boundaries of the camps or close to the camp. Internet coverage covers the involved camps with moderate speed rate. Iraq - KRI is a unique country and Duhok is a unique (humanitarian) operation. It provides for an interesting and enriching environment, but also requires a mature level of cultural awareness, as well as more stamina and commitment than elsewhere to make life comfortable and affordable. Therefore, flexibility and the ability and willingness to live and work in harsh and potentially hazardous conditions, involving physical hardship and little comfort, are essential.
