The Welcome Center is an emergency shelter for migrants and Asylum Seekers who have recently been released from government custody. The Welcome Center aims to provide safe respite and supportive emergency services to Asylum Seekers while they coordinate travel to their new home in the US.

The Service Area Coordinator provides trauma-informed services to asylum seekers and migrants, and other qualified immigrants to support a positive initial reception experience. The Service Area Coordinator ensures core services are accessible to clients during their stay at the shelter. The Service Area Coordinator will be assigned a specific service area (Intake and travel, kitchen operations, hygiene and clothing, and overnight). Through their work, the Service Area Coordinator develops systems and operational procedures for service delivery, trains staff and volunteers, and monitors the quality of services.

Major Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Ensure client access to services provided at the shelter including meals, bedding, clothes, personal hygiene, and travel support. - Provide support to clients in distress by providing psychosocial support, access to emergency services, assisting with family reunification efforts, etc. - Complete rounds throughout the shift, to ensure service areas run efficiently. - Support with client intakes including welcome speech, registration, legal orientation, and provision of resources for clients. - Support other services to provide comprehensive services to those asylum seekers requiring specialized assistance. - Ensure all services receive linguistically appropriate services and help advocate with mainstream service providers for such services. - Develop and carry-out staff and volunteer technical training. - Draft Standard Operating Procedures for Service Areas required under the direction of the Program Supervisor and Program Manager - Conduct regular monitoring of service areas to ensure compliance case documentation, case file management, and reporting requirements, adhering to strict confidentiality guidelines. - Manage service area budgets and spending with accurate reporting. - Track service area activities, compile data, and draft reports as required by donors, and agency specifications. - Participate in all program meetings, and staff development activities, and fully engage as a team member. - Comply with all IRC policies, procedures, and protocols including adherence to the IRC Way and Safeguarding. - Other related duties as assigned.

Internal: Operations Supervisor, ASF Specialists, Casework Coordinators, Children and Families Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinators, IRC Volunteers

External: TSA, ICE, Phoenix Sky Harbor, contractors and partner organizations and community entities also involved in asylum seeker services.

Job Requirements

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.

Work Experience:

- 3+ years of related work experience; 1-year minimum working with non-English speakers, knowledge of asylee process preferred. - Lived experience as refugee or immigrant. In lieu of lived experience, experience working with refugees and/or immigrants; cross-cultural or overseas experience accepted.

Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:

- Fluency in written and spoken English required and bilingual ability is preferred. - Cross-cultural understanding and strong communication skills, both written and verbal. - Computer proficiency with an emphasis on Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook). Proven experience in web-based data entry systems, with both data extraction and design preferred. - Highly organized and self-starter with proven success prioritizing multiple tasks, making critical decisions, and delivering results in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. - Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively. - Flexibility with demonstrated ability to maintain responsibility for multiple tasks in the context of a diverse, fast-paced work environment. - Strategic, creative, problem solver capable of working well independently and as a part of a team. - Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. - Must have a valid driver’s license, active insurance policy, and access to reliable transportation. - In accordance with Arizona State Law, must possess or be eligible to receive a fingerprint clearance card.

Working Environment:

The Welcome Center is a 24-hour facility; flexible work hours, including holidays, evenings and weekends with regular contact with ASF clients and volunteers.

Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
