Overview

Fulfill CTCN's knowledge and communication objectives.

You have:

  • Master's degree or equivalent in communications, information systems, international development, technology, computer science, environmental science, public policy, or related area is required.
  • A minimum of ten years of relevant professional experience is required.
  • Experience in knowledge management, international communications, or resource mobilization, climate change adaptation and mitigation, technology transfer and cooperation in a developing country context is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and respect for a multicultural workplace.
  • Ability to synthesize information in a clear and well-structured manner.
  • Fluent in English and working knowledge of another UN Official language is an asset.

Result of Service

Through the work of the consultant, CTCN knowledge and communications objectives will be fulfilled and support the CTCN’s Programme of Work. The key constituency groups will be engaged and mobilised to deliver upon CTCN services. In addition, CTCN communication strategy will be produced and supported to ensure wider dissemination about CTCN operations, and the CTCN Advisory Board and ultimately the UNFCCC Conference of Parties will be informed and empowered to productively guide the CTCN’s work.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Climate Technology Centre & Network (CTCN) is the operational arm of the UNFCCC Technology Mechanism. It is hosted by UNEP under the Climate Change Division. The mission of the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) is to stimulate technology cooperation and to enhance the development and transfer of technologies to developing countries. The incumbent of the post reports directly to the CTCN Director in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Qualifications/special skills

University – Master’s degree or equivalent in communications, information systems, international development, technology, computer science, environmental science, public policy, or related area is required. • A minimum of ten years of relevant professional experience, including some at the international level, in organizations implementing technical cooperation activities for developing countries is required • Experience in the one of the following fields will be considered as desirable: knowledge management, international communications, or resource mobilization, climate change adaptation and mitigation, technology transfer and cooperation in a developing country context. • Excellent communication skills and respect for a multicultural workplace. • Ability to synthesize information in a clear and well-structured manner.

Languages

English (Fluent), working knowledge of another UN Official language is an asset.
