Specifically, main responsibilities include the following: - Provide strategic leadership in education and develop, manage and coordinate UNESCO´s education programme in Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Timor Leste. - Provide high level evidence–based advice and technical support to Member States, regional/sub-regional/national organizations, and education networks and stakeholders. - Lead research and collaborative efforts to develop sound working tools and coordinate collaborative research on emerging issues in education within the five countries covered. - Engage in and contribute to the broader Asia-Pacific regional policy dialogues and initiatives on education to accelerate progress towards meeting Education 2030 goals, including through the Asia-Pacific SDG4 Coordination mechanism. Long Description ---------------- - Contribute substantively on education issues in UN agendas in the five countries covered, as well as participate actively in UN mechanisms in the five countries and thematic inter-agency groups. - Actively engage in resource mobilization, present and advocate for UNESCO’s programmes and projects to donors, partners and throughout the UN System and development agencies, nurturing high-level partnerships, sponsorships and tangible collaboration. - Liaise and collaborate with education specialists in the UNESCO field network in Asia-Pacific as well as with all Headquarter Sectors and with Education Sector in particular. - Develop internal and external networks and partnerships. - Represent UNESCO and act as deputy in the absence of the Director of office.
