For every child, commitment

The Nutrition Match Fund, now the Match Window, hosted in Supply Division, Procurement Services Centre, was launched in 2020 with support from the Government of the United Kingdom and the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) and has expanded with further investments from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Chris Hohn Foundation and growing interest from other donors.

The Match Window increases the availability of life-saving supplies for the prevention and treatment of child wasting. Since 2022 the mechanism has evolved to include a wider range of eligible nutrition products beyond RUTF and now including also preventive and maternal supplies (BEP, MMS, SQ-LNS, MQ-LNS and Vitamin A). In 2023 the Match Window became a part of the Child Nutrition Fund, a new financing mechanism designed to accelerate the scale-up of sustainable policies, programmes and supplies to end child wasting.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) commit all governments to comprehensive, integrated, and universal transformations, including ending hunger and malnutrition by 2030. Countries are required to mobilise efforts to end all forms of poverty, fight inequalities and tackle climate change, while ensuring that no one is left behind. Without adequate and sustained investments in health, the SDGs will not be realised. Countries are at different stages in their trajectory towards self-financing sustainability and Public Finance Management (PFM) obstacles often impact their ability to mobilize required resources and/or maximize investments for children and UNICEF is committed to influencing the mobilization, allocation, and utilization of domestic public financial resources, for greater, more equitable and sustainable results for children. UNICEF and partners (FCDO, CIFF, the Chris Hohn Foundation and BMGF) contribute to support countries in their efforts to strengthening the resilience of services to treat and prevent child wasting in the face of climate change through the Child Nutrition Fund and the Match Window.
