The Public Partnerships Division (PPD) works to strengthen UNICEF's position as a partner of choice for children's rights among governments and public actors around the world. Along with the Private Fundraising and Partnerships Division (PFP), PPD advocates for sustainable partnerships and mobilize flexible and predictable resources to achieve UNICEF's Strategic Plan results in the context of Agenda 2030.

How can you make a difference?

As an integral part of the Financial Management, Business Analytics and Operations team, the Sr. Finance Associate (Business Analysis) is responsible for supporting Finance Specialist (Planning, Analysis and Business Intelligence) with generating financial data and analysis for strategic external and internal reports, collecting income projections, optimizing various business solutions to increase internal efficiencies and implement internal automation

Key functions, accountabilities, and related tasks:

1. Financial analysis and reporting

  • Support Finance Specialist in preparation, collection, monitoring, benchmarking, and review of financial data through:

- Generating financial data for analysis of income/revenue/contributions/expenditure trends.

- Drafting financial analysis of top UNICEF donors.

  • Contribute to preparation of statistical reports for internal and external stakeholders through:

- Generating financial information for various external reports, including Funding Compendium, Regular Resources Report, and Structured Funding Dialogue.

- Preparation of financial templates, presentations, and periodic reports.

2. Income forecasting

  • Support Finance Specialist in conducting income forecast and financial modelling through:

Work proactively with PPD teams to ensure coordinated efforts and timely preparation of income projections.

Collecting quarterly income projections from PPD teams.

Performing quality check of the income projections vis-à-vis financial cubes, trends and funding pipeline.

Maintaining and updating systems in close coordination with ICTD and UNISON team.

3. Business intelligence SME

  • As SME, support business optimization projects through:

Supporting Finance Specialist in development and implementation of UNISON Salesforce

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.

Identifying areas where technical solutions would improve business performance.

Periodic reconciliation of BI reports, dashboards with VISION.

Developing guidance/training materials, as well as providing training and user-support.

  • Assist in the development and subsequent upgrades of PPD dashboard and various BI solutions:

Generate improvement ideas to increase internal efficiencies and implement internal automation, including financial monitoring Dashboard, Funding Dashboard and insight cube enhancements.

Provide input for the design of reports on the PPD dashboard.

4. Act as finance focal point

Act as a liaison between PPD team outposted to Budapest and GSSC, which will be hosting the team, on all operational, administrative and HR issues.

Maintaining and ensuring that PPD has proper internal control and segregation of duties.

Act as PPD focal point on monthly financial closures, including review and follow up with PPD sections/outposted offices and DFAM on open commitments, GR/IR, GL reconciliations and monthly reporting.

Education:

Completion of Secondary education (high school degree) is required. University level courses in the field of financial management and business analysis from a reputable institute or qualified accountancy from an internationally recognized accountancy body is an asset.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience in finance in the fields of financial management and analysis and business analytics is required. A completed university degree from an accredited institution will be counted toward the minimum work experience requirements. i.e. in the form of one year of completed education being equivalent to one year of relevant work experience (for fully completed degrees only)
  • Experience and knowledge of corporate ERPS (Enterprise Resource Planning), IPSAS (International Public Sector Accounting Standards), and Salesforce CRM software is required.
  • Demonstrated contribution to the delivery of process improvements with realizable benefits.
  • Strong analytical skills and proven ability to develop reports using Power BI or other data tools. Knowledge of and experience in system automation and automation tools.
  • Experience in a UN system agency, large private or public company, or working in a developing country and/or humanitarian/ emergency context is an asset.
  • Fluency in English (verbal and spoken) required.
  • Knowledge of an additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish), or local language of the duty station, is considered an asset.
