How can you make a difference?

The Finance Specialist will review and approve payments across multiple UNICEF house bank accounts, risk assess & analyze payments & work with field offices, multiple banks and Treasury to ensure payments are processed in accordance with best practice. The Payments Unit is responsible for processing payments to vendors, implementing partners and staff, totaling over $12BN per annum.

This will involve:

  1. Oversight of Transactional Processing & Service Delivery
  2. Leadership and Innovation
  3. Projects and business process improvement
  4. Treasury and cash management
  5. Knowledge and capacity building

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: Advance university degree (Master’s Degree) in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or equivalent or any other comparable recognized professional qualification or valid professional certification (CA; CPA; etc.) from an internationally recognized, accredited chartered accountancy institution is required.

A first University Degree (Bachelor’s Degree) in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience (7 years) may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.

  • Work Experience: At least 5 years of professional experience in financial management or auditing in an international organization and/or large corporation is required.

  • In-depth understanding of the complexity of domestic and cross-border payments, FX, Fintech solutions, compliance, and financial regulatory environment in different markets.

  • Excellent ability to manage relationships at all levels with different internal & external stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of building teams and processes and executing key strategic plans.
  • Deep understanding of payments risks, infrastructure, and challenges of developing markets.
  • Experience in a UN system agency or organization, some of which served in a developing country is considered as an asset.
  • Experience with IPSAS and/or IFRS is considered as an asset.

  • Language Requirements: Fluency in both spoken and written English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.

Desirables:

  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency.
