IMPORTANT INFORMATION

This is a fixed term appointment with the option to renew for an initial period of 3 years following Section 3.1 (b) of Administrative Order No. 2.01 (“Recruitment and Appointment’). This appointment is not convertible to a regular appointment. After the initial fixed period, ADB has the option to renew the appointment for up to three years or allow it to expire. This decision is based on ADB’s overall interest in retaining the skills and experience of the staff for a medium-term work program within the respective group, department, or office, while considering the availability of funding sources.

This vacancy is a local staff position. It is open only to nationals and residents of Tajikistan.

The position is assigned in the Tajikistan Resident Mission (TJRM) within the Central and West Asia Department (CWRD). CWRD is responsible for maintaining client relations and delivering ADB assistance to countries in the Central and West Asia region. TJRM is responsible for policy dialogue, country reporting, country strategy and program formulation, regional cooperation, portfolio management, project administration, economic and sector work, financial and administrative activities, coordination of ADB's activities with the government, donors, nongovernment organizations, academic institutions, private sector, and other members of civil society, and external relations and information dissemination.

Job Purpose

The Senior Economics Officer will assist in providing technical knowledge in economics; conducting economic analysis and forecasting; monitoring economic and political progress; maintaining and managing databases; and administering relevant technical assistance (TA) projects. The incumbent will report to the Country Director and/or designated International Staff and will also have a matrix reporting line to the Regional Lead Economist for CWRD for economic analysis of country partnership strategies; country economic monitoring and economics-related analytical work. The position may supervise Administrative Staff.
