BACKGROUND

ROLE OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Europe, the Senior Director will support the SVP and his direct reports as a thought partner, strategist, driver, problem solver, and effective partner to internal and external stakeholders.

Working with the SVP and the European SMT, the Senior Director will:

· Support the SVP to deliver on Strategy100 objectives

· Coordinate output and delivery across European locations and identify and resolve any delivery challenges

· Design the SVP’s thought -leadership, advocacy and communication agenda

· Manage and drive special projects

· Advise the SVP on complex internal and external issues

· Ensure effective engagement with all appropriate departments

· Represent the SVP internally and externally as appropriate

Qualifications

MAJOR RESPONSABILITIES

Policy and Influence

- Supports the SVP in developing a strategic agenda and priorities, identifying opportunities where the SVP and IRC in Europe are best able to have impact and influence - Has a deep understanding of and engagement with all levels of the IRC with and on behalf of the SVP - Represents the SVP and resolves competing demands, IRC priorities and time requirements - Coordinates and/or oversees the development of policies, procedures, and strategies relating to complex policy issues - Drafts strategy documents, reports, speeches, briefing notes, and talking points - Works to expand and develop key relationships with critical advocacy targets

Organizational Delivery

- Promotes development and effective delivery of strategic objectives in Europe. This includes:

a. Identifying and solving delivery challenges

b. sharing best practice across Europe

c. developing and implementing accountability system and performance metrics

- Supports the SVP in developing and implementing objectives for the European offices, selecting priorities that require the SVP’s engagement, and driving progress on these - Keeps an active overview of the work of departments to ensure effective and coordinated support to and response from the SVP - Support engagements with IRC Boards in Europe, and ensures follow up.

Coordination and Communication

- Works with senior internal and external stakeholders to commission and/or develop briefings. - Builds relationships across the organization in order to deepen contextual understanding of how and why the organization operates the way that it does - Represents the views of the SVP at internal and external meetings - Maintains sensitivity and diplomacy with senior colleagues

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies

· Ability to organize, plan, schedule, determine priorities and meet deadlines

· Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are essential

· Ability to anticipate and assess situations accurately and recommend/implement effective courses of action required

· Ability to think and act strategically, and to drive progress on complex issues

· Ability to coordinate multiple meeting tasks and complex details on a concurrent basis

· Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders with tact and diplomacy, both orally and in writing, including working with all staff levels and diverse personalities

· Ability to exercise discretion in dealing with sensitive material and maintain the confidentiality

· Ability to handle stress, and function effectively under pressure

· Ability to expand on own initiative in performance of duties
