Job Description

Job Overview

The External Relations (ER) department was built in February 2020 and is comprised of 3 main but complementary functional areas: Private fundraising, Communications and Advocacy. We are in the beginning stages of building an ambitious global strategy that will improve IRC’s ability to “punch above its weight.” We enable the organization of more than 15,000 staff to have the resources needed to continue serving 18 million people worldwide in places affected by war and disaster, shape the humanitarian sector by influencing key policies and reforms and build and grow IRC’s reputation.

The newly formed ER Analytics team is looking for a Senior Analyst that is both passionate about data and creating substantial impact. Reporting to and collaborating closely with the Director of Global Analytics, you will work with fellow teammates in ER Analytics and ER stakeholders to craft quantitative insights that shape the IRC’s global strategy. You will be joining a welcoming and collaborative analytics team, and play a meaningful role in building the culture and practices of our team.

What you’ll be doing:

- Partner with colleagues across various functions and levels of our organization to translate broad questions into analysis & reporting that will guide global strategy. - Work on all aspects of the analysis pipeline: defining problems, capturing requirements, exploring & cleaning data, statistical analysis, crafting recommendations, and communication findings. - Collaborate with fellow analytics team members to build out practices in coding, statistics, and analysis. - Work closely with the Analytics team leads to integrate and prioritize analyses across the ER Department.

Examples of projects include: Creating frameworks to measure the impact of our advocacy efforts, analyzing the efficacy of our branding and donor engagement work, measuring progress in fundraising towards programmatic priorities, and working with senior leadership to identify and report on high-level key performance indicators.

We’d love to hear from you if:

- You are naturally curious and eager to bring structure to complex and ambiguous problems, with strong attention to detail & dedication to delivering a high standard of work. - You can “tell a story” with numbers in a variety of formats: data viz, dashboards, memos, and presentations. - You are excited to grow and build your analytics toolkit, and work with your analytics peers to engage and test the trends and methodologies in the industry. - You are both a collaborative and independent worker that leads on initiatives—you have thrived in a dynamic environment that requires active listening, constructive feedback, teamwork, and personal accountability. - You have a “partner-first” mentality when working with stakeholders. You take the time to understand the nuance of our partners’ programs and goals, and effectively explain technical topics. You understand the value of data in decision making, and have a point of view, but are low ego. - You have approximately 3 years of experience with SQL, relational databases, and/or advanced Excel. - You desire to work in a global environment that values diversity in backgrounds perspectives, and skills.

Nice-to-Haves:

- Proficient in R, Python, or Stata. - Previous exposure to more advanced qualitative and quantitative methods. (e.g, experimental design, probability, survey design, econometrics, financial modeling). - Familiarity with PowerBI, Tableau or other business intelligence tools. - Experience Salesforce or similar CRM technology. - Knowledge of dimensional modeling and workflow orchestration.

We offer a comprehensive and highly competitive set of benefits. In the US, these include: 10 sick days, 10 US holidays, 20-25 paid time off days depending on role and tenure, medical insurance starting at $120 per month, dental starting at $7 per month, and vision starting at $5 per month, FSA for healthcare and commuter costs, a 403b retirement savings plans with immediately vested matching, disability & life insurance, and an Employee Assistance Program which is available to our staff and their families to support counseling and care in times of crisis and mental health struggles.
