This is a SB-2 contract. This kind of contract is known as Service Board / Service Contract. It is normally only for nationals. More about SB-2 contracts.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the overall direction of the Security Adviser he/she is responsible, among other tasks, for the following functions:

1. Maintain permanent link with fixed and mobile stations of the United Nations System to monitor and follow-up of the missions carried out by Agencies, Founds and Programs in the country. Monitor the different missions carried out by UN staff, to know their location and current security situation. The later includes to start the communication in case a mission does not report its departure and end of mission.

2. Carry out initial interventions in cases of incidents that may occur and in which UN staff are involved. Communicate to the Security Adviser serious events.

3.Receive and send communications and security information to UN staff in Argentina, via AFP Security Focal Points at local level. Monitor the public media due Argentina security situation.

4.Keep the Security Adviser informed about the development of the missions carried out and the requirements of the different AFP´s of the UN System in Argentina.

5.Keep an updated logbook of UHF communications and/of any other stations that use the Communication Network. Perform the monthly Security Communications System radio check.

6,Preparation of Safety and Security Reports, daily, weekly and monthly, as required.

o Foreign missions visiting the country

o Daily security situation / public transportation / public demonstrations reports

o Significant weather alerts

o Others

7.Prepare, update and manage UNDSS databases: Update the monthly Security Network, official lists and support contacts for security incidents. Permanently update the UN ID´s files and deliver the ID cards.

• Knowledge in the use of office software (Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power-Point), Internet and email.

• Knowledge and management of the Google Earth package.

Required Skills and Experience

Education

• Bachelor in Humanities or senior technician in a specialty to support a better perform his/her duties, related to vacancy TORs.

Work experience:

• (5-7) years of experience in the field of security.

• (10) years general work experience.

• Previous experience working in call centers in the area of security, with preference 911 emergency service is required.

Additional Comments:

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows.

• Management of Internet browsing tools.

• Knowledge of VHF-UHF communication equipment use.

Language requirements:

• Excellent knowledge of oral and written Spanish is required, together with working level of English.
