SCOPE: The Safety and Wellness Specialist is responsible for providing behavioral health, domestic violence, and sexual assault (DV/SA), and human trafficking screening, case management and coordinating service needs across IRC in Atlanta department and with local providers. These responsibilities are a key part of the Safety and Wellness Specialist programming to provide access to quality, culturally and linguistically competent services to refugee and immigrants population. This is a full-time, limited term with the possibility of extension based on funding.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Responsible for completing a safety planning

· Provide a comprehensive case management service to clients with history of domestic violence, trauma, and torture history.

· Work with clients to develop and maintain relevant and meaningful case plans. Provide concrete case management and access to internal and external resources. Meet regularly with clients to support case plan accomplishment.

· Serve as an advocate for clients through the process of obtaining temporary order of protection (TPOs)

· Refer clients to other agencies and resources and advocate directly with other agencies as needed to help client access necessary services. Maintain service partnerships with referral agencies.

· Conduct mental health and DV/SA screenings, referrals to culturally- and linguistically competent providers, and service coordination for clients.

· Work with IRC staff to identify, refer and coordinate care for clients determined to have a high probability of emotional distress, or/and to have experienced trauma/torture or DV/SA

· Coordinate and facilitate psychoeducation classes for program participants and assess knowledge gained.

· Work with staff to ensure quality assurance policies and procedures are in place including but not limited to tracking of referral needs, screening outcomes, and service coordination/utilization outcomes to meet funder and compliance requirements.

· Comply with reporting and recordkeeping requirements.

· Develop and foster partnerships with community organizations for referral of clients as needed.

· Work closely with staff and external partners to enhance and implement program goals.

· Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor’s degree preferred.

· Expertise and experience typically acquired through 2-3 years of relevant work experience in social work, mental health counseling, public health, crisis response, domestic violence and/or humanitarian relief.

· Demonstrated success in case management services, including engagement, assessment, motivational interviewing, safety/service planning, referring to services and advocacy

· 1 – 2 years’ experience working with refugee and immigrant population is a plus.

· Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment.

· Demonstrated success working collaboratively with other professionals including community partners.

· Understanding of the dynamics, needs, and potential services relating to DV/SA is preferred.

· Proven ability to contribute both independently and as a key team member.

· Self- starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.

· Fluency in written and spoken English, additional language skills desired.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

· Valid driver’s license, access to reliable vehicle with current insurance, and the ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area (home visits, agency visits, service provider visits etc.).

· Ability and willingness to drive a 15-passenger van preferred.

· Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

Working Environment:

· A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.

· May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
