Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.

DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 600 staff in Ukraine and will continue significant scale-up in 2024 to implement emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.

Overall purpose of the role:

Safety Assistant position will be based in Mykolaiv. Safety Assistant will provide technical support to the safety team, field office and program teams on all DRC safety policies, procedure and planning standards. SA will report directly to Safety Team Leader.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for all DRC security equipment/communication equipment, regularly review and update security department documentation.
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate maintenance of all security related documentation, procurement, mapping, database updates.
  • Provide technical support to the security team in the DRC South Area office.
  • Maintain the capacity and conduct all normal workflow for the DRC South Area office.
  • To be responsible for procurement of all necessary equipment for the security department, premises and other security related resources.

Education: (include certificates, licenses etc.)

Bachelor’s degree in any related field.

Required experience and competencies:

  • Experience in safety/security staff for NGO is an advantage but not necessary
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Proficiency with Digital literacy: MS Office applications, including high priority to Excel, Power Point required. Proficiency in use of graphic/arts/design, data visualization.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with supervision, meet deadlines, ability to learn and report
  • Excellent relationship-building, interpersonal skills and ability to represent DRC
  • Middle level of English skills

We offer:

Contract length: 3 month renewable after satisfactory probation period. Level: І non-manager Designation of Duty Station: Mykolaiv - Full time based Start date: As soon as possible.
