Result of Service - The participating team identifies a common goal and strengthens its performance as a team while team members identify ways to enhance their job satisfaction and performance. - Team members get to interact closely promoting a more cohesive division/unit. - The exercise fosters the utilisation of the collective strengths more effectively and creation of a more unified and effective team.

Work Location The team development exercises may be undertaken in any of the locations listed below. Consultants residing in any of these locations are therefore preferred:

  • Almaty, Kazakhstan
  • Bangkok, Thailand
  • Beijing, China
  • Chiba, Japan
  • Incheon, Republic of Korea
  • New Delhi, India
  • Tehran, Iran
  • Suva, Fiji

    Expected duration - The duration of team building/retreat exercise can be 1 to 2 two days with 1 or 2 days for preparation work and report writing, respectively, for each exercise.

  • Team building/retreat date(s) will be scheduled with individual team.

    Duties and Responsibilities Organizational Development and Staffing Unit, Human Resources Management Unit of UNESCAP invites interested candidates to send their applications for inclusion in a vetted roster of external consultants.

Qualified consultants will be invited to register themselves in the “Consultant Roster” in due course. Joining the Roster does not guarantee any consultancy assignment. Consultants on the roster may be shortlisted, interviewed, selected and contracted when there is need for team development exercise.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The consultant is responsible for assessing needs, designing programme and activities in consultation with the participating team and delivering a team development exercise (team building/ retreat) to fulfil the set goal/objectives.

In general, team development exercise aims to build cohesive and effective teams, and support processes that integrate the units and individuals at all levels. The topics covered during the team development exercise may include, but not limit to:

¿ What do team-members bring to the team? ¿ How can team-members work effectively and efficiently as a team? ¿ How to define the common vision and strategy of the team?

To fulfil a team development exercise, the consultant is expected to undertake the following actions:

1. Assess and identify needs in coordination with the participating team; 2. Design customized programme and activities for the team; 3. Prepare training material(s) for the exercise; 4. Deliver the team development activity; 5. Submit end-of-training report.

Qualifications/special skills Experience: ¿ At least 4 years of professional experience in developing programme agenda and delivering team building/retreat activities, preferably in an occupational/institutional setting. ¿ Experience in assessing needs and designing training/activities ¿ Experience in facilitating meetings/ discussion for international organizations is preferred. ¿ Working experience in a multicultural environment would be an asset.

Academic Qualifications: Master's degree in Psychology, Human Resources or comparable academic qualifications, or equivalent work experience

Skills: Knowledge in psychology and skills in design and facilitation of team building/retreat exercise

Language: Fluency in English is required

Additional Information Travel Details:

No travel is anticipated except in a circumstance where no suitable consultant is available in designated location(s). When a travel is required, the authorized travel cost includes:

  • A round-trip economy air ticket according to UN travel rules and regulations.
  • Daily Subsistence Allowance (DSA) and terminals which will be paid at the applicable UN rate according to the UN rules and regulations.

    No Fee THE UNITED NATIONS DOES NOT CHARGE A FEE AT ANY STAGE OF THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS (APPLICATION, INTERVIEW MEETING, PROCESSING, OR TRAINING). THE UNITED NATIONS DOES NOT CONCERN ITSELF WITH INFORMATION ON APPLICANTS’ BANK ACCOUNTS.
