The Active Citizenship Award is an annual recognition of young Africans (between the ages of 15 and 35) living in Africa, who go beyond their civic duties to improve access to basic amenities for children and young people in Africa. The award seeks to encourage young people to regularly take action (online or offline) that contributes to upholding democracy and achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in their communities. The winners receive recognition certificates and all finalists are featured in our ‘Active Citizens Hall of Fame. Citizens are called to nominate individuals that are actively making social changes as well as participating in the development of their communities. And after the nomination period, the judges select finalists for public voting. The award has helped in inspiring more young people to take action for the SDGs.
We are looking for volunteers to serve as judges to review and recommend finalists for our 2022 Active Citizenship Award in Africa. The award seeks to publicly recognize young Africans who go beyond their civic duties to uphold democracy and/or improve access to basic amenities in Africa. As a judge, the volunteers would review some nominations submitted across Africa and recommend finalists for the award based on information submitted through the nominations.
The volunteers must be professionals with many years of experience in the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
