The PBF Secretariat is strengthening its multimedia communication efforts to showcase results and impact across its portfolio in Sierra Leone. Over the years, the PBF in Sierra Leone has generated a substantial body of knowledge, including portfolio evaluations, project-specific evaluations, project reports, and thematic studies, articles and videos. While these documents provide rich insights, they are often technical and extensive, requiring synthesis into accessible, strategic knowledge products that will be used for graphic design and to inform the video products. The PBF Secretariat seeks to transform this wealth of information into clear, concise, and compelling thematic narratives that capture the change, learned, impact, and contributions to peacebuilding. These synthesized outputs will be converted to visual and audiovisual materials which will be used for digital platforms, advocacy campaigns, donor engagement, public information, and commemoration events. The Online Volunteer’s contribution will transform heavy information into structured, impactful narratives, improving accessibility and storytelling on PBF impact in Sierra Leone. This supports the SDGs, mainly SDG 16 by promoting awareness, inclusion, and transparency in peacebuilding processes.

The United Nations Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) is the UN’s leading financial instrument for sustaining peace in conflict-affected and fragile settings. Established in 2006, PBF provides catalytic and flexible funding to address peacebuilding priorities, strengthen national institutions, and prevent the recurrence of conflict.

In Sierra Leone, the PBF has significantly contributed to sustaining peace, especially after the end of the civil war in 2002. Over the years, since 2006, the PBF support has accompanied the different political and peacebuilding contexts and needs of Sierra Leone. Early on and building on the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission report, PBF support had focused on strengthening communities and institutions for inclusive democratic governance, reconciliation and social cohesion, access to justice, improved security and protection of human rights, promotion of dialogue, youth inclusion and gender equality. PBF has continued to build on these interventions, further focusing on the current peacebuilding needs informed by the national priorities.

As part of its 20-year global commemoration, the PBF Secretariat in Sierra Leone aims to showcase the impact and change stories of the PBF investments through compelling multimedia storytelling that highlights the changes and voices from communities, institutions, partners, and beneficiaries. We are looking for Online Volunteers who, under the guidance of the PBF Coordinator and Monitoring and Evaluation Officer and in close collaboration with the various PBF project teams, will review and synthesize a large volume of PBF documentation and translate them into high-quality thematic knowledge and impact products that will be designed and shared across various communication channels. All products and materials produced under the assignment will be the intellectual property of UN PBF. Each Online Volunteer will:

•Review a wide range of PBF documents (some reports are up to or slightly more than 100 pages), including: Portfolio evaluation reports; Project-specific evaluation reports; Programmatic and progress reports; knowledge and communication products. •Based on the reviews, identify, extract, analyze, summaries and transform analyzed content into clear, concise, and well-structured synthesis products and engaging narratives in communication-ready formats (e.g. on progress briefs, change/impact/human-interest stories, project briefs and thematic summaries; knowledge summaries; results and learning briefs; messaging inputs for reports, newsletters, scripts for videos, etc.). •Organize content into thematic areas, including (but not limited to): Youth, Peace and Security (YPS), Women, Peace and Security (WPS) and gender, Conflict prevention, Cross-border and regional peacebuilding, Natural resource management, social cohesion and livelihoods, etc. •Extract evidence of outcomes, impact, and transformative change related to PBF-supported interventions and tailor narratives and content to formats compatible and for use with different platforms, including print, web, social media, presentations, and large-scale display. •Identify strong quotes, success stories, and human-interest angles emerging from evaluations (without adding new data beyond reports). •Use strong storytelling techniques to elevate beneficiaries/stakeholders/thematic narratives. •Maintain consistency, high standards of accuracy, clarity, professional standards and storytelling quality across narratives/content. •Ensure narratives reflect conflict-sensitive, inclusive, and gender-responsive perspectives. •Ensure consistency and alignment with UN and PBF terminology and communications standards and messaging. •Produce content for publications: Two (15-25 pager) reports; Two (8-12 pager) newsletters. •Produce knowledge and learning content: Three (8-12 pager) thematic briefs; Three (8-12 pager) results summaries; Three (15-20 pager) photo-books (with minor text; for physical and online display). •Produce storytelling Content: Nine (4-8 pager) change stories/human-interest stories features. •Produce content for visibility materials: Six animated/motion banners; Three roll-up banners; Three large backdrop banners; Three over the street banners; Six Posters; Six peace postcards; Six (one pager) illustrations on impact/change. •Produce content for data visualization: Six (2-4 pager) infographics; Six (one-pager) fact sheets; Three (trifold/4-fold) brochures. •Use the content from the review to develop five scripts for video production and animation on various projects and thematic focus areas. •We encourage creativity and use of modern tools to elevate the quality and impact of the communication content and products. New ideas are also welcomed. •Participate in 1–2 planning meetings per week (online) to align on priorities and schedules. •Integrate feedback from team members and ensure consistency across the materials.
