JOB PURPOSE

The Programme officer shall provide support to strengthen regulatory framework through policies, laws and tools in the area of governance of the programme of school feeding as well as efficiency, as part of WFP’s overall capacity strengthening provided to the Tunisia Government.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • University degree in International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences or other field relevant to international development assistance.
  • An advanced university degree is an advantage

Language:

Fluency in both oral and written communication in the Arabic, French, and English languages.

Experience:

At least three years of work experience in a programme, fund or agency of the United Nations or non-governmental organisations in the areas of policy discussion and decisions, public information or programme support

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  1. Research and analyze policy and operational issues to support the development of country strategies, programme and activities
  2. Contribute to the preparation of reports on programme activities to support decision making and information sharing
  3. Carry out a documentary review including studies in emergency preparedness, natural disasters, climate change, analysis of recent emergency responses, existing emergency preparedness initiatives, etc. in order to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the emergency preparedness and response system in Tunisia
  4. Prepare and carry out detailed interviews at the national, regional and local level with stakeholders involved in emergency preparedness and response. MPA(MINIMUM PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
  5. Liaise with institional contrepart to improve the framework of the GRC (Gestion des Risques et de Catastrophes) in Tunisia
  6. Liaise with other functional sections and units to ensure effective internal collaboration
  7. Perform other duties as required

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

• Has gained experience in implementing technical programs (i.e. nutrition, etc.). • Has implemented programmes and provided input into designing operations. • Has provided input into policy discussions and decisions.
