Contract

This is a UNV International Youth contract. This kind of contract is known as International UN Volunteer. It is normally internationally recruited only. More about UNV International Youth contracts.

This UNV assignment is part of the World Food Programme's Resilience Building team, which aims to assist vulnerable communities in diversifying their means of subsistence, enhancing food and nutrition security, and developing climate change resilience.

The world is not on track to achieve Zero Hunger, and nations are requesting that the WFP integrate crisis response with efforts to build resilience to recurrent shocks and address structural vulnerabilities. The combined effects of climate change, political conflict, forced migration, health threats, and a variety of other factors have created a difficult set of circumstances.

The increasingly complex configuration of risks faced by vulnerable populations underscores the need to identify strategies and develop programs that are tailored to the unique risk environments in which individuals work to regain and maintain well-being in the face of shocks and stressors. Resilience provides a foundation upon which to base strategies and programs.

WFP's resilience programmes aim to build the capacity of individuals, households, communities, institutions, and systems to deal with shocks and stresses that threaten the food security, nutrition, and wellbeing of WFP's beneficiaries.

In close partnership with the Government of Sri Lanka, WFP Sri Lanka's County Strategic Plan (CSP) will make substantial contributions to Zero Hunger while strengthening communities' resilience and nutrition security. The CSP is implemented using an integrated, holistic, and innovative programming approach that strengthens local/national capacities and ensures program sustainability.
