Background Information - Job-specific

The Finance Group (FG) is a critical and strategic business function in UNOPS and serves as an authoritative and integrated partner in the organization on strategic financial planning and budgeting, business strategy and practices, financial analysis and risk assessment, financial management services and long term organisational treasury and investments. As the steward of resources of a self-financing UN entity, FG is accountable for timely cost recovery and reporting to partners, maintaining the integrity and transparency of financial management of resources in accordance with the highest standards of ethics and organisational/ international accountability framework and the accurate and transparent financial reporting to governing bodies, clients, partners and stakeholders.

The Reporting Analyst reports to the Head of Financial Performance Management and Reporting who provides broad supervision and guidance. The role is responsible for supporting the results monitoring and reporting process, and serving as the custodian of output-based budgeting. The role is also responsible for contributing to corporate reporting on results and the UNOPS portfolio.

Functional Responsibilities

1. Results analysis and reporting

  • Support the Team Lead, together with the Reporting Specialist, on UNOPS results reporting, including guidance, stakeholder engagement, data collection and enrichment, quality assurance and analysis for contributing to the preparation of the annual report of the Executive Director
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of systems for results monitoring and reporting
  • Prepare analysis, reporting and dashboards on UNOPS portfolio, including for internal and external stakeholders such as the UN Chief Executives Board
  • Serve as steward for UNOPS adherence to Global Reporting Initiative standards, including process management and data collection

2. Output-based budgeting

  • Serve as the custodian and organizational focal points for output-based budgeting
  • Provide technical guidance, training, advice and troubleshooting to field personnel on output-based budgeting in the context of the relevant UNOPS system
  • Manage relevant data sets, produce reporting, and develop and maintain dashboards on UNOPS portfolio from an output-based budgeting perspective
  • Exercise oversight on use of output-based budgeting system functionality, capture lessons learned, and propose system improvements, all in consultation with relevant stakeholders
  • Prepare analysis involving output-based budgeting data, including for the Quarterly Business Review and related portfolio overview

3. Corporate services and support

  • Support the Team Lead in continuously improving UNOPS Quarterly Business Review process, including providing analysis to support performance discussions by the SLT
  • Support senior management decision making by preparing presentations and providing quality analysis of UNOPS financial- and operational performance

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education: - Master’s degree preferably in finance, business administration, economics, data science, statistics , computer science, engineering or related field are required - A Bachelor’s degree and 2 additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the Master's degree

Experience: - A minimum of 2 years of experience in quantitative analysis and reporting in a large international organisation or business corporation is required. - Experience with financial analysis and reporting is an asset. - Experience with reporting of development results is an asset. - Experience with data management is an asset. - Some experience in UN system organisations an asset

Language requirements: - Full working knowledge of English. - Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.

Contract type: International Individual Contractor Agreement Contract level: IICA1 (ICS 9) Contract duration: Open-ended, subject to organizational requirements, availability of funds and satisfactory performance.
