How can you make a difference?

UNICEF offers the opportunity for summer interns, talented university students, to gain valuable professional experience while being exposed to UNICEF's work. At the same time, UNICEF benefits from working with interns as they are a significant asset, providing updated academic knowledge, technical know-how and other valuable skills to the organization.

UNICEF is looking for a national intern to join the education team. The selected intern, in collaboration with and under the guidance of her/his supervisor, will work remotely on the following areas:

  • Non-Formal Education (NFE) Programme – Support and improve programme documentation as well as knowledge management related to NFE opportunities for children.

The NFE Programme intern will:

  • Review NFE programme partner reports and present enrolment and profiles of beneficiaries at district and provincial level for analysis;
  • Use existing resources to collect statistics/information on out of school refugee children at district level in programme provinces;
  • Prepare data comparison tables and map potential service expansion areas;
  • Create pivot tables for NFE Programme outreach results and prepare summaries and disaggregated data sets based on different socio-economic and regional variables;
  • Review and summarize legislative changes (last decade) on education provided in Vocational Training Centers (VTCs); and
  • Support translation between English and Turkish and vice versa of key programme related documents.
  • Take notes (English and/or Turkish) during meetings, when needed.

Duty Station: The internship assignment will be home based. No travel is required.

Duration: 3 Months ( preferably between June 15 to September 15, 2021)

Full-time, remote

Stipend:

In accordance to UNICEF's guidelines, interns will be paid a nominal stipend per month. There is no expectancy of employment at the end of the internship.

Insurance: UNICEF will not be responsible for costs arising from accidents and/or illness incurred during the intern's service, whether on or off UNICEF premises. Therefore, the selected candidate must provide proof of enrolment in a health/accident plan prior to start his/her work. If accepted, the intern will be required to provide a copy of health insurance coverage and to fill out the relevant UNICEF forms on conditions regarding service as an intern.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in a degree programme in an undergraduate[1] or graduate school of social sciences (preferably Educational Sciences, Literary Sciences or other relevant social science);
  • Be fluent in Turkish and English;
  • Strong computer skills and Microsoft Office proficiency is required.
  • Excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institutional records; and
  • Additional consideration will be given for any past internship experience in related fields.

[1] Applicants enrolled in an undergraduate school must have completed at least two years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of an undergraduate degree.
