This position is part of the HR Unit in the WFP Regional Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean, supporting 13 country offices in the region. The Regional Diversity and Inclusion Specialist will work closely with the Regional Human Resources team in Panama, with the support of the WFP Diversity and Inclusion Team in headquarters, to promote and implement the global diversity and inclusion strategy across the Latin America and the Caribbean region. The role will include managing initiatives, events and programmes that support the overall objectives and goals of WFP’s diversity and inclusion agenda, with a focus on regional priorities.

Under the supervision of the Regional HR Officer and within the organization’s delegation of authority framework, the UN Volunteer will be expected to:

Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive diversity and inclusion strategy for talent acquisition, talent management and retention in the region. Communicate the diversity and inclusion strategy and its relationship to WFP’s pur-pose and values. Provide specialist advice on the interpretation and application of policies and proce-dures in relation to Diversity and Inclusion. Proactively support regional and country specific diversity and inclusion efforts. Contribute to strengthening WFP’s brand and Employee Value Proposition (EVP). Proactively generate diversity and inclusion content for social media engagement and outreach to attract diverse talent. Design and implement concrete actions contributing to making WFP the best place to work for all employees in the region.
Design and develop capacity building materials and training on diversity and inclu-sion, in partnership with the WFP Career Management and Diversity and Inclusion teams in headquarters. Facilitate and organize regional and country specific events, workshops and pro-grammes to create awareness and encourage participation in the diversity and inclu-sion agenda. Review and provide input for the advancement of diversity and inclusion in existing and future HR policies, procedures and practices. Conduct research on regional demographic trends and on demographics underrepre-sented in WFP in the region, stay abreast of global and regional best practices, and recommend strategies for enhancing diversity and inclusion efforts in the region. Regularly monitor and report on diversity and inclusion progress in the region, includ-ing disseminating information to relevant stakeholders. Participate in organizational and regional joint working groups on diversity and inclu-sion to infuse cutting edge practices. Perform other duties as required.

As part of WFP’s Regional Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean, the UN Volunteer will provide a professional, authoritative and timely support to the HR Unit’s stakeholders (the Bureau’s units and WFP’s country offices in the region), while showcasing the organization’s core values (humanity, commitment, collaboration, integrity and inclusion). Panama is world-famous for its 48-mile canal that connects the Pacific Ocean with the Atlan-tic Ocean. The origin of this unique cultural mix is undoubtedly the crossroads characteristic that the country has always had, as well as the intense connection of Panama with the sea, making it very similar to an island in the Car-ibbean, with very diverse cultural origins and traditions yet an atmosphere of tolerance and harmony that has always prevailed in the territory.

Today, this narrow land bridge in Central America is home to more species of birds and trees than the whole of North America. You may discover its beautiful landscapes, rich culture, and endless tourist activities. Some of these activities include rainforest tours, surfing, snorkeling, diving, hiking, camping, bird watching, white water rafting, zip-line tours, and more. In Pana-ma City, you may enjoy world-class dining, nightlife, and shopping.

Panama has a tropical climate throughout the year in the lowlands and temperate climate in the highlands. Panama City is mostly warm and humid. At sea level the average annual tem-perature is 27 ° C / 70.6 ° F. Panama has 2 seasons: dry from December to April and rainy from May to November. Electric fans and/or air-conditioners are highly advisable.

In the main cities, the water supply is good, but it is recommended to drink filtered water. Most houses and apartments have hot water systems.

The unit of currency in Panama is the U.S. dollar, but the Panamanian balboa, which is pegged to the dollar at a 1:1 ratio, also circulates in denominations of 5¢, 10¢, 25¢, 50¢ and 1 balboa coins.
