Purpose for the job:

Under the general guidance of the Regional Chief of Fundraising, and in close liaison with Regional Office senior management and programme staff, the post is responsible for ensuring that UNICEF’s partnerships with the private (‘corporate’) sector in the Latin America region maximizes results for children by leveraging financial resources.

Key functions, accountabilities and related duties/tasks:

  1. Key end-result 1: Income from Country Offices from Corporate private sector fundraising maximized
  2. Key end-result 2: Coordination optimized with other Country Offices and HQ on PFP matters including work plans, and strategy related to Corporate Fundraising
  3. Key end-result 3: Capacity Building and support

1. Key accountability 1:

  • Task 1: Works closely with the individual fundraising teams to capitalize on the synergies to maximize growth.
  • Task 2: Spearheads business development across the region by working closely with COs to ensure solid business development plans and develops multi-country alliances.
  • Task 3: Provide support and technical advice on corporate alliance negotiations across the region

2. Key accountability 2:

  • Task 1: Oversee the region’s overall corporate fundraising targets and provide period updates to management, including recommendations and support needed to ensure that the region can meet its financial commitments.
  • Task 2: Establish work plan, monitor compliance, and provide training, support and guidance to CO corporate fundraising teams and CO Fundraising managers.

3. Key accountability 3:

  • Task 1: Provide technical guidance to COs in developing corporate fundraising strategies, structuring and managing partnerships and other day-to-day requests.
  • Task 2: Build capacity in corporate partnerships in COs, in close liaison with PFP’s central corporate fundraising units.
  • Task 3: Oversee institutional procedures pertaining to forging partnerships, ensuring adherence to global strategies and policy and sets up benchmarks to guide COs to focus on high-value partnerships.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education:

  • Advanced university degree in Business Management, Social Sciences, Marketing or equivalent is required.
  • A first level university degree in combination with two extra years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:

  • Eight years progressively responsible professional work experience in fundraising, marketing/PR, sponsorship, project management, including work with the corporate sector, particularly in creating large scale corporate partnerships, ideally at the international level.
  • Knowledge of current theories and practices in fundraising, including individual giving, marketing and sponsorship required.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in English & Spanish required.
  • Knowledge of another UN language and/or portuguese is an asset.

Technical Knowledge

a) Common Technical Knowledge Required (for the job group)

• Experience within a UN agency or international NGO an asset

b) Specific Technical Knowledge Required (for the job) (Technical knowledge requirements specific to the job can be added here as required.)

• Understanding of and experience in specialized fundraising techniques (Cause marketing, customer fundraising, pathways to pledge) • Understanding of the different modalities of engagement with Private Sector for programmatic purposes (B4R) • Understanding of the modalities of Communication for partnerships (C4P)

c) Technical Knowledge to be Acquired/Enhanced (for the job)

• Understanding of UNICEF programmatic goals, strategies and processes (SDGs, CPDs…) • Understanding of results-based approach and programming. • Understanding of UN mission and system; and International Code of Conduct. • Understanding of UNICEF Mission Statement and observance of UNICEF Guiding Principles. • Knowledge of PFP policies, procedures, manuals, guidelines, rules and regulations. • Understanding of UNICEF’s organizational structure and culture. • Understanding of needs of clients and stakeholders. • Understanding of UNICEF brand position and competitive edge.
