  • Understanding the psychosocial support needs of refugees in refugee camps.
  • Strong connections with recreational/sport clubs, sport professionals and sport community.
  • Experience in organizing recreational activities for children in the community.
  • Fluency in spoken and written Serbian.
  • Knowledge of Ukrainian or Russian is an asset.
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel).

About the job

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has opened the recruitment process for a National Post (with Local salary scale) of the Recreational Facilitator within the UNICEF funded projects.

Position: Recreational Facilitator – (50 % of the full working hours)

Period of engagement: 4 months with a possibility of extension

Basic functions: The Recreational Facilitator primary function is to ensure quality implementation of the recreational activities in synergy with the larger child protection component of the DRC programme in Serbia.

Reference: The Recreational Facilitator refers to the Head of Programme and works in close cooperation with the Project staff (Child Protection Officer and others).

Specific duties and responsibilities:

  • Assess the recreation requirements of the beneficiaries;
  • Communicate with refugee children and youth to determine their needs and interests;
  • Prepare and implement recreational activities schedules;
  • Handle development and implementation of programs according to age and capability of beneficiary group;
  • Schedule, lead and supervise recreational activities;
  • Take into account Covid-19 pandemic, including associated restrictions and recommendations coming from relevant authorities when designing and implementing activities, ensuring PoCs and personal safety;
  • Encourage beneficiaries to participate in activities by showing them how they are done;
  • Ensure a variety of sport and recreation programs are planned and implemented;
  • Provide participants with lists of rules and regulations for each activity that they are involved in;
  • Assist with and facilitate local involvement of community in recreational activities;
  • Organize and set up the equipment that is used in recreational activities;
  • Provide reports about recreation programs and activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & experience required

  • Bachelor degree related to sport science or high school diploma coupled with relevant working experience of at least 1 year;
  • Experience on refugee/migration related issues would be an asset

Skills and Work Experience:

  • At least 1 years of experience in provision of recreation activities with focus on child protection / recreational activities, preferably within refugee/displacement programs, or at least 1 years of experience in provision of recreational activities with children;
  • Understanding the psychosocial support needs of refugees in refugee camps.
  • Strong connections with recreational/sport clubs, sport professionals and sport community;
  • Experience in organizing recreational activities for children in the community.
