How can you make a difference?

Under the initiative taken by UNICEF-Somalia to build capacity and empower women through internship of female university students in different sections, the intern under C4D section will assist the NEZ office C4D Officer in developing communication materials, training aids, scripting for radio and television, crafting key messages for different channels, coordination of section meetings with UNICEF programs and partners and documentation of C4D interventions.

Main Tasks and responsibilities:

o Support in Designing and pretesting of IEC materials

o Based on the requests from the programme section, assist C4D Officer in designing posters, banners, billboards, and other types of IEC materials.

o Share creative ideas for the development of radio and television spots. Also, assist in pretesting beta version of these spots.

o Support in Crafting key messages for different programme interventions

o As per request from programme section and need of C4D section, craft key messages in Somali and English under the guidance of C4D Chief/ Specialist.

o Assist in the design and development of training aids

o Assist in designing and development of various training aids

o Support in the preparation of training presentations working closely with C4D Officer

o Pretest effectiveness of training aid in different settings.

o Prepare write-up/ guidance for focus group discussions

o Assist in coordination & meetings & data collection:

o Arrangement of section meetings with UNICEF Programs and partners (government & N//INGO)

o Coordination C4D working group meetings (working with MOH in inviting participants and arrangement of logistics

o Assit in collecting and compiling data from MOH and other partners, following-up data submission through ODK, preparing reports and presentations as needed

o Assist in documentation and record keeping

o Assist section in preparing meeting minutes/ workshop reports

o Compile information and prepare a periodic update for the section.

o Compile and keep record of invoices / request for payment.

o Assit in keeping a detailed inventory of C4D IEC materials report

o Ensure organized filing of program documents

Work relationships

The successful candidates would work closely with the C4D Officer

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Should be female and be in possession of a first-level university degree or be enrolled in a degree programme in Social Sciences, Journalism, Mass Communication, Business Administration and any other related field.
  • Have no immediate relatives (e.g. father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office plus no other relatives in the line of authority that the intern will report to.
  • Fluency in English and Somali, both written and oral, is required.
  • Knowledge of relevant computer systems and applications; excellent knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) is desirable.
