Duties and Responsibilities

United Nations Resident Coordinator's Office is looking for a communications assistant to support the UN Country Team, and the UN Communications Group to strengthen inter-Agency cooperation in the field of communications and increase the media profile of United Nations activities at the national level. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision and guidance of the Head of RCO and the DGC National Information Officer.

The Communications assistant contributes to the overall work of the UN Communications Group:

• Contributes to the communications and public information activities (media advisories, press releases, preparation of brief reports, stories for the web site, concept notes, publications, etc). • Assists with translation and editing of Armenian and English language materials. • Maintain and update the bilingual UN Armenia website. • Maintains and updates social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube) with daily UN materials both from HQ and from country team. • Posts timely bilingual information on high-level meetings of the RC with visual content. • Assists with taking photos, editing and maintenance of the digital photo, video archive. • Collect and collate relevant information inputs from the UNCT for joint communications and advocacy initiatives and processes (e.g. support for high level meetings, corporate outputs like the CCA, UNSDCF-related outputs like the Annual Report, Evaluation, policy papers, Karashen initiative etc.) • Maintains the monthly calendar of activities and events, UN Lobby screen announcements. • Undertakes any other relevant duties delegated by the supervisor.

Qualifications/special skills

Advanced university degree in PR and Communications, public administration, public relations, social media marketing or related field is required. Minimum 2 years of experience working in the communications industry: public relations; social media marketing, public information campaigns or other communication related field is required. Good familiarity with the local media and civil society environment. Sound knowledge and experience with most popular social media platforms. Knowledge of and experience in using computers, other office equipment and software applications (MS Office), photo/video editing. Languages

Fluency in Armenian and English is required, knowledge of Russian is an asset.
