Result of Service The ultimate results of service is the refurbishment of buildings and in particular for the conversion of internal and external lighting systems, including : -Improvement of green energy appliances; -Reduction of energy consumption; - Installation of motion detectors; -Installation of internal LED lights; -Installation of external LED projectors; -Installation of FRIM Sensors.

Expected duration The proposed individual contractor will be hired as soon as possible until the 30th of June 2022.

Duties and Responsibilities The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all peacekeeping and special political missions around the world as well as to other UN Offices, Agencies Funds and Programs.

This position is located in the Infrastructure Cell of Campus Support Unit, within the Central Service (CS), at the UNGSC, Brindisi, Italy.

The incumbent reports to and works under the supervision of the Chief Campus Support Unit.

The Infrastructure Cell of Campus Support, responsible for the maintenance of UNGSC facilities and infrastructure, is seeking for qualified electricians. The replacement of lights with LED type already started 2 years ago; however, in order to complete the whole project, UNGSC Campus Support / Infrastructure Cell is seeking the assistance of Individual Contractors. The Individual Contractors will be supporting the refurbishment of the buildings and installation of LED lights. More specifically, the electricians shall:

- Read blueprints and technical diagrams; - Install wiring, control, and lighting systems; - Inspect electrical components, such as transformers and circuit breakers; - Identify electrical problems with a variety of testing devices; - Replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures using hand tools and power tools; - Follow state and local building regulations based on the National Electric Code; - Direct and train workers to install and repair electrical wiring or equipment; - Install LED lights inside and outside of the buildings; - Install motion detectors; - Install FRIM sensors to water and electric meters; - Implement and comply with all health and safety precautions; - Assist the electrical team in any other task, as required.

Qualifications/special skills Skills: Valid driver’s license is required. Academic Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent is required Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of experience as Electrician in Engineering Field or related area is required. Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position knowledge of English is required.
