Result of Service A Meeting Facilitator is required to support programme design and implementation for the United Nations Caribbean Communications Retreat 2023. Bids from suitable individuals or organizations based in the Caribbean are invited for this Consultancy.

Expected duration 6 weeks

Duties and Responsibilities The successful applicant/organization is expected to fulfill the following functions: - Collaborate with the UNIC Port of Spain team to produce a three-day programme (based on an existing draft agenda) to facilitate networking, information delivery and exchange, group/plenary strategizing, and collaborative production activities.

  • Provide expert guidance as well as research and drafting support for the selection of suitable presenters, design of retreat activities, and implementation of strategies to maximise impact of all programme components.

  • Assist facilitators to develop their presentations.

  • Design and coordinate processes for recording and reporting of the proceedings and outcomes of the Retreat.

  • Identify, recruit and compensate external (non-UN) presenters/facilitators for agreed agenda items. Payments negotiated with facilitators external to the UN system are to be made directly to them by the Consultant and must be included in the quoted fee. At minimum, facilitators are to be identified for the following sessions: o Presentation on “An external perspective on the UN system in the Caribbean” o Presentation on “Storytelling in the Caribbean” o Crisis Communications simulation exercise (four hours)

  • The Meeting Facilitator will be expected to guide a familiarization exercise on the first day of the Retreat (26 September), and to support the Retreat’s concluding review session on the final afternoon.

    Qualifications/special skills- A minimum of 10 years’ experience working in the communications and public information field, preferably public relations or strategic communications consulting. - A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the design and delivery of training material for the development of public information and communication skills. - Familiarity with the work of the United Nations. - Previous experience working for or with the United Nations in the Caribbean would be an asset.

    Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another Caribbean languages would be an asset.
