Duties and Responsibilities

Duties may include, but are not limited to: - Collect and collate multimedia information from different UN departments and organizations in Azerbaijan; - Monitor various sources for new content and information about what is happening in and around the UN at the country, regional and global levels on a given week. - Edit and subtitle news videos and photos for UNIC’s social media channels, using dedicated software (such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Canva); create visuals, quote cards and other materials as requested using online tools (such as Canva or Adobe Photoshop); - Attend press conferences, meetings and events in Azerbaijan to gather quotes and take photos and videos which can be used in social media posts. - Draft posts for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Linkedin in Azerbaijani and in English; - Research trends and posts from partners and suggest retweets/reposts; monitor the social media accounts for followers' comments and questions, and flag them to the team. - Take an active role in the live coverage of events taking place in Azerbaijan - Draft monthly reports reflecting performance of the UNIC’s social media accounts. - Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications/special skills

An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in communications, journalism, or public relations or a related field is highly desirable. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Candidates for the UN Internship Programme are required to cover the cost of travel including visa, accommodation, health insurance and other living expenses for the duration of the internship. Have you completed a UN Internship before? If yes, please include the UN entity as well as concrete dates? Applicants should have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Teams. Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. Ability to draft articles, such as web updates and newsletters, and social media posts is desirable

Languages

Fluency in oral and written English and Azerbaijan is required. Knowledge of Russian is desirable.
