Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. This position is located in the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Africa Office at Nairobi duty station.
The Internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.
The intern will work under the guidance of the ROA Communications and Outreach team to assist carry out the following tasks: • Support in the planning and execution of communication and outreach activities. • Assist with the drafting,creation and editing of various types of content, such as reports, blog posts, web templates, social media posts, and other visual elements and graphics. • Support video production, photography, and editing • Support the coordination and scheduling of posts on X, Instagram, and Facebook pages. • Support draft press releases, news stories and political briefs. • Assist with graphic design of reports, informational material, posters, banners, creation of infographics. • Support the data gathering and analysis of press, web, and social media performance. • Assist with translation of public information content. • Assist with research. • Support with organization photography and video library. • Carry out any other additional duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements: a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.
Be computer literate in standard software applications.
Have demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter;
Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Undergraduate Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Design, or International Relations is preferred. Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another UN Language is desirable.
