Result of Service Key Functions:

1. Manages difficult cases: Difficult cases will be referred to the psychiatrist for advance management. The management of such cases will be shared between psychiatrist and medical officers to improve staff capacity.

2. Provide Technical advice: The psychiatrist in coordination with MHPSS supervisors will provide regular technical advises and consultation to medical officers till the end of the project. 3. Provide advanced training services on the agreed aspects of mhGAP modules: The psychiatrist will conduct training on the mhGAP module that will be supported by training on practical aspects based on the experience of the psychiatrist and the experience of UNRWA MO gained during the previous period of integration.

Work Location Gaza

Expected duration 6 months and could be extended to 11 months

Duties and Responsibilities The below planned engagement progr amme shall be in line with annexed “Work Plan” for the project. Supports medical officers in management of mental health cases in the health centers, ¿ Training of UNRWA medical officers on diagnosis and management of the mental health disorders. ¿ He/ She will manage cases referred from MOs for example and not limited to: - Resistant Cases (not responding to treatment, need to change management plan). - Uncertain Diagnosis. - Relapsed cases. ¿ Maintains the database of managed patients and prepare reports as requested by Field Disease Control Officer. ¿ Coordinates and liaises with the Ministry of Health and other NGOs the referred cases as needed. ¿ Technical and clinical assistance to the medical officer in coordination with MHPSS supervisors. ¿ Performs such other duties as may be required.

Qualifications/special skills Bachelor degree in medicine. Minimum 2 years Diploma in Psychiatry. At least five years of increasingly responsible experience in mental health management: - Background: Psychiatrist - Posses good experience in guidance and counselling - Able to organize practical sessions for the participants

Languages Excellent command of written and spoken Arabic and English

Additional Information: ¿ The psychiatrist should report to the Field Disease Control Officer. ¿ The psychiatrist will visit health centers on daily basis based on agreed schedule .
