CONTEXTUAL BACKGROUND

The IRC established programs in Iraq in 2003 to address the overwhelming needs of displaced people in Iraq and the neighboring countries. Since re-establishing its presence in Iraq in November 2007, the IRC has been assisting thousands of internally displaced families in the northern, central and southern governorates in the sectors of protection, gender-based violence (GBV), education, economic recovery, child Protection and emergency humanitarian assistance. Working in coordination with the humanitarian community in Iraq, the IRC's assistance and emergency programs address the needs of war-affected Iraqi internally displaced persons (IDPs) and Syrian refugees from several operational bases in the country, and include both camp-based and urban-based assistance. IRC operates throughout Iraq, with the main office in Erbil and field offices in, Baghdad, SAD, Anbar and Mosul.

Major Responsibilities:

- Under the line management of Team Leader, the PSS Case Worker will support vulnerable people – with a specific focus on men and on people with disabilities and their caregivers – with community based psychosocial support activities. - In support of this activity, the PSS Officer with the support of Team Leader, will coordinate with relevant MHPSS actors and service providers in Ninewa and will participate to setting up a referral system to refer people in need of non-specialized MHPSS services. - With support from Team leader and according to the curriculum designed at the beginning of the project, the PSS Officer will deliver series of psychosocial sessions as well as one-offs sessions to men and adolescent boys in Ninewa governorate. Activities will be conducted with in accordance with the IRC developed activities for men and adolescent boys in which the PSS worker will be trained and supervised. - Where men who are participating in psychosocial group activities are identified as being in need of additional case management services the Case worker will assess protection issues, develop and implement case plans including full documentation of cases, follow up, individual psychosocial care and referral. - Work alongside the PSS team leader and Protection Manager to promote the value of MHPSS services with the local authorities and other partners - Support the organization of community-based activities that promote shared resilience, self-help and peer support, including capacity building workshops and support groups - Encourage referral pathways and support at the community level for common mental health issues by working with teachers, religious leaders and traditional healers, and by facilitating regular coordination/case discussion meetings with these stakeholders and their corresponding health facilities. - Prepare and send daily/weekly field reports to the Protection Team Leader / Protection Manager , also raise any protection concern or rights violation noticed in the area, according to best practices in term of confidentiality and safety of beneficiaries. - Daily upload all the protection activities on CommCare system. - Perform other duties, as required by the supervisor in order to support the protection program .

Position Reports to: Protection Team Leader. Position directly supervises: N/A.

Indirect Reporting: PRoL Manager. Other Internal and/or external contacts:

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

1. Bachelor degree in Psychology or Social work background preferred. 2. At least two years’ experience in NGO/INGO. 3. Good communication skills including ability to gain trust and build relationships with new communities. 4. Experience with working with IDPs, returnees and host communities. 5. Belief in human rights including gender equality. 6. Experience working with people from different backgrounds. 7. Fluency in Arabic, good level in English, Kurdish language is prefer. 8. good computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Power point

Working Environment: the position will be based in Sinjar and Baaj with some visit to Mosul.
