About the job:

DRC Tripoli Office is looking for a qaulified candidate to fill the position of Protection team leader community-Based, the Team leader will be responsible in the implementation of DRC community-based protection mechanism activities, including information dissemination, awareness-raising and psychosocial support at both individual and community levels. The position will contributes to strengthening DRC’s community outreach approach and engaging with Libyan and non-Libyan through its commuity networks and guide established Community committees through designing and implimenting Community Diven Initiatives.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • To plan and supervise implementation of community mapping exercises, effective community mobilization and engagement activities efficiently.
  • In close coordination with CPVs and other protection teams’/team leaders, build on community engagement initiatives; lead on sharing updates highlighted by CPVs and community members on protection risks, concerns, and situational updates affecting populations of concern for management, program, and advocacy purposes.
  • Support in designing content for accurate and impartial dissemination beneficiaries upon identification of needs and gaps related to protection and rights among target beneficiaries and communities.
  • Ensure accurate record keeping of information dissemination among IDP, returnee, host community, migrant and refugee communities through individual, collective/group events, advisories, and leaflets, and provide guidance to CBP team members accordingly.
  • Guide and support CBP Officers and Assistants to take a leading role in community empowerment and capacity-building activities with the aim of preventing and/or reducing protection risks and building resilience and capacities.
  • Ensure the use solid participatory approaches with attention to age, gender, diversity, and vulnerability criteria, to facilitate meaningful dialogues that enable participants to self-identify protection concerns that affect their communities.
  • Mobilize and build strong rapport with community members through consistent engagement, adhering to dignified, safe, and culturally sensitive approaches.
  • Ensure implementation of DRC’s CBP activities is conducted in a timely manner, including monitoring delivery of the agreed outputs, in accordance with international standards.
  • As well as other duties that may be assigned to you by the Protection Team Leader and or Manager.

About you:

To be successful in this role we expect you to have :

  • 4+ years of professional experience in the field of humanitarian interventions, human rights, civil society, or community development, preferably with an international humanitarian organization
  • 3 years of experience working directly with conflict-affected and/or vulnerable groups, including migrant and refugee populations.
  • Solid knowledge of the migration context in Libya and of protection risks faced by conflict-affected populations, including migrants and refugees.
  • Strong skills in verbal and written communication, with proven capacity to document and share information in a clear and systematic manner.
  • Experience in identifying and responding to needs of particularly vulnerable individuals and groups based on field work, protection, age, gender, and diversity analysis and other criteria.
  • Demonstrated capacity to effectively represent a humanitarian organization with communities and stakeholders.
  • Understanding and experience working with other protection components, particularly case management, legal aid, and protection monitoring.
  • Experience working with communities, including basic psychosocial skills.

Required

University Degree in the field of Social Sciences, Sociology, Community Development, Communication, Humanitarian Affairs, or any other related field

Desirable

  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic
  • Good knowledge of English language
  • Strong skills in verbal and written communication.
