Under the day-to-day supervision of UNICEF’s Adolescent Development Specialist, the youth intern will support in the engaging, networking, managing, regular monitoring and reporting of the youth projects in Libya. The intern will support in liaising with UNICEF’s

partners and key stakeholders such as the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Youth, for the best interest of children, adolescents, and young people within the scope of the UNICEF programme. The intern is expected to engage with youth and liaise more closely

with entities working on youth initiatives. The role will also require having regular joint meetings with other UNICEF sections such as WASH.

MAIN TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Community Engagement

  1. Actively participate in community outreach programs, events, and initiatives.

Project Management:

  1. Support in monitoring and evaluating project outcomes, ensuring their alignment with the overarching goal of making a positive impact.

Skill Development:

  1. Support in facilitating workshops and training sessions to develop essential skills
  2. among youth, such as leadership, communication, and problem-solving.

Networking and Partnerships:

  1. Attend relevant community events to expand the network and identify potential partners.
  2. Collaborate organizations and private businesses to enhance the impact of youth-led initiatives.

Monitoring and Reporting:

  1. Prepare regular reports on project progress, challenges, and lessons learned.

    To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Being enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or Ph.D. degree programme or having graduated within the past two years in education, social studies, environment, or political science is desirable.
  • Experience in working with adolescents and youth, working with national or international NGOs is an asset.
  • knowledge of programs with a particular focus on youth development, and civil society organizations' role is an asset.

    Previous experience with UN agencies including UNICEF is an asset.

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
  • Be proficient in English and Arabic languages
  • Have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have no immediate relatives (e.g. father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office; and have no other relatives in the line of authority that the intern will report to.​​​​​​​
