DRC has been responding to various humanitarian crises in Lebanon since 2004, working with Palestinian, Iraqi and Syrian refugees. DRC received registration from the Ministry of Interior in 2011, and since then has focused primarily on responding to the Syrian refugee crisis in Lebanon and the resulting impact on Lebanese host community. DRC Lebanon’s focus is to ensure that we are able to respond to critical emerging humanitarian needs whilst improve the living conditions of displacement-affected populations and contribute to the achievement of durable solutions. With an annual portfolio of $12million, and with approximately 200+ staff, DRC is focusing its response in protection and economic recovery (Ec-Rec) sector in Bekka, North Lebanon and Beirut. DRC is also contributing to the evidence base and coordination structures in country through our Evidence Generation and referral information management (RIMs) teams

About the job

The overall purpose of the role is to work with and engage communities to implement GBV prevention activities through the establishment of women and men groups and the provision of tailored curriculums. Ensure the implementation of other psychosocial support activities within the scope of DRC’s protection programming. Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Work with communities and other stakeholders to actively identify women and men to be enrolled in GBV prevention curriculums;
  • Provide tailored prevention curriculum to women and men groups;
  • Hold monthly meetings with women engaged in GBV prevention activities through created women groups;
  • Identify safe spaces to provide protection activities that adhere to the quality checklists for center-based and outreach activities shared at the inter-agency level;
  • Deliver prevention and psychosocial support activities in line with global and national inter-agency SOPs/standards;
  • Ensure that women and men are registered in GBV prevention activities without creating stigma and/or judgment;
  • Create a safe space where participants can voice their opinions, thoughts and emotions, share experiences and brainstorm on solutions in a confidential and respectful manner
  • Ensure participants of prevention activities are enrolled in PSS or case management activities or other relevant services based on identified needs through active identification and timely management of referrals;
  • Actively ensure referrals from community-based and other protection into prevention activities;
  • Adapt the location and timing of sessions, content and approach of prevention curriculums to the needs and availability of the participants; including women and men with specific needs;
  • Ensure the proper documentation of data collected (hard and soft copies) during prevention and PSS activities (attendance sheets, permission slips, consent, referrals etc.);
  • Use IM tools and online platforms for timely and accurate data entry of the activities. In collaboration with IM colleagues, make sure data is properly entered, accurate and complete, to ensure proper analysis of the data.
  • Support participants to provide feedback on focused PSS through the SOQ.

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have a Bachelor in Social work, Counseling, Psychology or other related field . Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required

  • 1 year of experience in psychosocial support and/or case management
  • Experience working with communities; preferably providing GBV prevention or response services
  • Good knowledge of protection, PSS, Gender and GBV standards and principles,
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination, safety and inclusion of persons of concern at all times
  • Excellent facilitation, communication and psychosocial first aid skills
  • Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel)

Contract length: Until February 2023 renewable based on performance and availability of funds
