UNESCO is committed to the implementation of high-quality, equitable, and inclusive education as outlined in its Medium-Term Strategy for 2022-2029 and Programme and Budget for 2022-2025. These initiatives align with Sustainable Development Goal 4, which focuses on promoting inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all. As part of its strategic efforts in sub-Saharan Africa, including Kenya, UNESCO's O3 Programme supports school-based Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE). This program aims to empower adolescents and young people by fostering their agency and equipping them with essential skills. It places a strong emphasis on gender equality, health, and human rights, aligning with UNESCO’s Global Priorities. The incumbent will focus on advancing girls' education and economic empowerment in Eastern Africa.

Under the overall authority of the Director of UNESCO Regional Office for Eastern Africa and under the direct supervision of the Head of the Education Sector, the following tasks will be carried out in close collaboration with the Education Project officer for Education, Health and Well-Being:

We are looking for Online Volunteers who have experience in research and proposal writing in the field of education in Eastern Africa. The task will include the following responsibilities:

o To collaborate with the education teams in each targeted country to develop and implement effective educational programs.

o To collect and analyze data regarding in-school and out-of-school children, with a focus on girls.

o To conduct detailed research on the state of girls' education in the specified countries, identifying unique challenges and opportunities.

o The average estimated workload is expected to include roughly reviewing 5-7 documents (these can include scientific articles, studies etc.) over the course of the assignment duration.

Candidates should have strong research and analytical skills. Background knowledge and working experience in Education is desirable. A degree in a related field is considered an asset.

The candidate should have professional knowledge in English to summarize the findings.

We are searching for people with a high feeling of responsibility and knowledge of scientific and academic work, to ensure the quality of the research and proposal.
