This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task

Within the terms of Property Management Section (PMS) and PCIU delegated authority, and under the direct supervision of the Chief PCIU, the national UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

• Coordinate and conduct the property verification program within a particular geographical area of the mission;

• Liaise with Self Accounting Units, Military and Police Departments/Sections to facilitate implementation of the verification programme and to advocate UN policy and procedures;

• Investigate and report on anomalies in accountability and property control procedures and monitor their resolution;

• Perform physical inspection of UN owned property held in the mission by different type of personnel including; UNAMID staff members, Military and/or Police component, Contractors, Agencies who are in receipt of UNAMID assets;

• Verify whether accurate accountability of assets issued to end-users is being maintained;

• Review compilation of inventory discrepancies, advise relevant departments and monitor associated reconciliation process;

• Assist in the preparation of statistical reports, including from the Umoja ERP system;

• Maintain and update information collected during physical inspection in the Umoja ERP system;

• Monitor and verify accuracy of inventory data captured in the Umoja ERP system;

• Ensure accurate and auditable records, in both hard and electronic format, are maintained for property control and accountability at UNAMID in conformance with Secretariat Administrative Instructions;

• Liaise with relevant UNAMID Component on daily basis regarding Property Control matters;

• Perform other duties as tasked by Chief PCIU and/or by Operations Supervisor.

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level:

Technical/Vocational diploma

Education - Additional Comments:

High school diploma or equivalent in Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Property Management or a relevant related field of study. Technical training in software systems, Warehouse and Inventory management and related occupations is highly desirable.

Required experience:

36 Months

Experience remark:

  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience relevant to the field of inventory control or logistical management is essential. Knowledge and understanding of relevant UN administrative policies and procedures, along with experience that is relevant to the UN mission environment, is an asset but not required.
  • Experience in working in an international organization, is desirable.

Language skills:

  • Arabic(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent

Area of expertise:

Inventory, asset and warehouse management, Logistics and supply management, General business management

Area of expertise details:

• Knowledge and understanding of relevant UN administrative policies and procedures, along with experience that is relevant to the UN mission environment, is an asset but not required.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team of international and national staff.

• Good knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel is required.

• Good knowledge in Umoja (enterprise resource planning system) property management modules are desirable.

• Demonstrated ability and willingness to keep up with new skills in the pharmaceutical field.

• Arabic language skills at native level is required.

• Fluency in spoken and written English is required.

• Have a valid driver’s license and demonstrated ability to drive manual gear 4x4 vehicles is required.

• Experience in working in an international organization, is desirable.

• High level of security awareness is required.

• High level of persistence and flexibility is required.

• Ability to be systematic and meticulous in work is required

• Ability to be self-driven and able to takes own initiatives is required.

• Ability to work under stress under prolong periods is required.

• Have affinity with or interest in volunteerism and the UN System.
