As part of its communication activities, UNICEF produces a variety of documents in English, aimed at informing and engaging different audiences. To ensure the linguistic quality and consistency of these documents, UNICEF is seeking the support of an online UN volunteer. This role involves proofreading and editing texts of varying lengths while ensuring that the corrections respect the original ideas, align with the organization’s communication guidelines, and are tailored to the target audience

We are looking for an online volunteer to assist with proofreading various types of documents in English. The responsibilities of the online volunteer will include: • Proofreading various types of documents, editing and improving them as needed • Ensuring edits respect the original ideas in the documents and that documents adhere to UNICEF branding guidelines and are suitable for external audiences • The editor must be a native English speaker The selected online volunteer will receive the documents in English, but as many in the office do not speak English fluently, it’s expected that all documents received will required two of more days of work

Strong editing skills, including grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc ; Ability to improve the flow and clarity of documents, including reports, fact sheets, human interest stories, etc ; Organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines ; Ability to communicate effectively with the communications team, clarify expectations and give/receive.
