It is the International Centre of Excellence in Curriculum and Learning and is valued for its specialist knowledge, expertise and networks, and for providing curriculum support services that include up-to-date, evidence-based information and technical assistance to UNESCO Member States. The IBE offers strategic advice, technical assistance tailored to specific country needs, short and long-term capacity-building opportunities, and provides access to cutting edge knowledge in the field of curriculum and learning. Under the overall authority of the Assistant Director-General for Education (ADG/ED), and the direct supervision of the Director of the IBE, the incumbent will be in charge of the development and implementation of the Hybrid Education Learning and Assessment (HELA) initiative and curriculum related activities. More specifically, s/he will: Long Description ---------------- - Provide Diagnosis, mapping and analysis of African school initiatives during Covid-19 with a focus on curriculum, pedagogical, teaching, learning and assessment dimensions. - Develop and implement action plan and deployment of HELA in African countries within a holistic and systemic understanding of curriculum. - Make the case and propose options to mainstream HELA related dimensions within the curriculum transformation and development processes across educational levels. - Critically analyse the inclusion and engagement of beneficiary populations and communities in the curriculum development processes and propose strategies for improvement. - Develop frameworks, guides and training tools to support mainstreaming hybrid modes of education within the curriculum transformation and development processes across educational levels. - Provide the technical support expected from the IBE in education reforms and policies in progress in developing countries and with a focus in Africa. - Contribute to the reflections on the promotion of 21st century competencies – personal, interpersonal, digital and citizenship ones - and their implications for revisiting the curriculum at large. Long Description ---------------- - Identify themes and partners and develop initiatives/projects for fundraising and implementation in the field of curriculum, learning and related issues. - Contribute to the development of partnerships with universities and other private institutions to support curriculum and pedagogical transformations towards hybrid modes of education. - Develop training programmes, in collaboration with universities and other relevant stakeholders from different regions of the world, to support the implementation of hybrid modes of education. - Provide technical support in the framework of cooperation with universities and the promotion of quality assurance mechanisms and tools in higher education. - Contribute to the proofreading and quality assurance of IBE publications in French. - Contribute to the follow-up and coordination of the IBE’s various projects, particularly in African countries - Ensure the execution of any other task contributing to the revitalization and credibility of the IBE. **COMPETENCIES (Core / Managerial)** ------------------------------------ Communication (C) Accountability (C) Innovation (C) Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement (C) Planning and organizing (C) Results focus (C) Teamwork (C) Professionalism (C) **-** ----- For detailed information, please consult the [UNESCO Competency Framework](https://en.unesco.org/sites/default/files/competency_framework_e.pdf). **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** --------------------------- **Education** - Advanced University Degree (Master’s or equivalent) in education preferably in one of the following domains : Comparative Education, Curriculum or Learning or Pedagogy or Hybrid Education. **Work Experience** - Minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible relevant experience in education development, of which preferably 2 years acquired at international level. - Experience in conducting research and impacting practice on Hybrid Education from an international comparative perspective. - Experience in supporting countries in implementing curriculum renewal, design and development processes with a focus on Hybrid Education.
