The purpose of this assignment is to develop and adapt a comprehensive suite of graphic assets that support UNICEF's ongoing marketing activities across various teams and functions. This includes creating new visual materials, adapting existing assets for specific markets or events, and enhancing long-form content such as reports and presentations.

The goal is to ensure consistent, high-quality visual assets that effectively engage target audiences, including High Value Audiences, and supports UNICEF’s strategic lead generation and fundraising objectives.

Scope of Work:

The scope of work for this assignment involves the creation, adaptation, and enhancement of a wide range of graphic assets to support UNICEF's marketing efforts. This includes developing new assets, such as social media graphics, print advertisements, and digital assets, to maintain an always-on approach across various marketing activities.

Additionally, the assignment includes adapting existing assets and creating new assets tailored to specific market or event needs. Furthermore, the consultant will be responsible for enhancing long-form content pieces, including PowerPoint presentations, Word documents and PDFs, to ensure visually compelling and consistent communication materials across all platforms.

Work Assignment Overview and Deliverables

Develop graphic assets to support always-on approach of marketing activities for cross-functional and cross-team activations.

  • Deliverable 1: Estimated quantity: forty (40) assets including social media graphics, print advertisements, digital assets, and other media-related assets.

Adapt existing assets and create new assets in support of market or event-specific activations.

  • Deliverable 2: Estimated quantity: twenty (20) adaptations of existing assets and twenty (20) new assets across social media graphics, print advertisements, digital assets, and other media-related assets in support of market or event-specific activations. (Total 40 deliverables)

Lead the design for long-form content (reports, investment cases) as required, including the enhancement of existing assets such as PowerPoint presentations, Word documents, and PDFs.

  • Deliverable 3: Estimated quantity: twenty (20) visually enhanced assets across PowerPoint presentations, Word documents, and PDFs.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Educational Background:

  • A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or higher) in graphic design, communication, digital media, or related field is required. A graduate degree is an asset.

Experience:

  • A minimum of three (3) years of professional work experience as a graphic designer is required.
  • Proven experience in developing design for print, digital and social (graphic design portfolio).
  • Proven experience in using in Adobe Creative Suite products (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Microsoft Office products (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • Strong management skills and the ability to prioritize and manage deadlines is required.
  • A demonstrable knowledge of B2B and B2C marketing is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of UNICEF and the non-profit sector is considered an asset.
  • Experience developing assets for C-Suite and high-net-wealth audiences considered an asset.

Language:

  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN language is an asset.

Skills:

  • Flexibility and ability to work independently and as a team player with a range of constituents and colleagues at varying levels.
  • Must possess a strong work ethic, have confidence, take initiative and be an enthusiastic team player.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, both written and verbal is an asset.
  • Strong customer service approach to interactions with colleagues and partners; ability to navigate complex environments and help build relationships with a variety of stakeholders is an asset.

Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
