You have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Development Studies, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in education programming, preferably in humanitarian or emergency response contexts.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Education in Emergencies (EiE), child protection, and inclusive education principles.
  • Strong experience in teacher training, community engagement, and capacity building.
  • Ability to develop and manage detailed implementation plans, budgets, and reports.
  • Experience working with government education structures, NGOs, and humanitarian agencies.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills.
  • Very good oral and written communication skills in English and ability to write quality reports.
  • Good facilitation skills.
  • Previous experience working in refugee education, psychosocial support (MHPSS), and disaster risk management (DRM) in education.
  • Familiarity with UNICEF's education and child protection frameworks.
  • Proficiency in Chichewa is an advantage.
  • Ability to ride a motorcycle with a valid license is an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

TEMPORARY PROJECT OFFICER-EDUCATION IN EMERGENCIES

POSITION PURPOSE:

The position will be responsible for implementation of project activities, community level coordination and fostering partnerships within the sector in the Area Programme.

Major Responsibilities

1.****Project Planning & Implementation

  • Develop and implement district-level implementation plans for EiE activities.
  • Ensure effective mobilization of resources and logistics for training sessions and material distribution.
  • Conduct community mobilization and engagement to promote education access.
  • Facilitate the distribution of teaching and learning materials to 50 schools

2. Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

  • Collect, analyze, and report data on key project indicators (e.g., school attendance, child protection, learning outcomes).
  • Conduct school and community visits to assess implementation progress.
  • Document lessons learned, best practices, and success stories.
  • Submit timely monthly and final reports.

3.Capacity Building & Teacher Training

  • Train teachers on trauma-informed pedagogy, gender, DRR in Education, and safeguarding.
  • Build the capacity of School Management Committees (SMCs) and PTAs on mental health and psychosocial support, PSEA and Gender.
  • Provide mentorship and post-training follow-ups

Child Protection & Gender Inclusion

  • Strengthen school-based child protection mechanisms.
  • Ensure the implementation of school safeguarding policies.
  • Facilitate targeted support for refugee girls and children with disabilities.

Community Engagement & Advocacy

  • Engage local leaders, faith-based organizations, and school committees.
  • Conduct awareness campaigns on gender equity and education inclusion.
  • Facilitate community-district interface meetings.

Coordination/Stakeholder Management

  • Liaise with District Education Offices, humanitarian organizations, and government agencies.
  • Represent the project in district and national education forums.

KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
