It is the International Centre of Excellence in Curriculum and Learning and is valued for its specialist knowledge, expertise and networks, and for providing curriculum support services that include up-to-date, evidence-based information and technical assistance to UNESCO Member States. The IBE offers strategic advice, technical assistance tailored to specific country needs, short and long-term capacity-building opportunities, and provides access to cutting edge knowledge in the field of curriculum and learning. IBE 2021 work programme is conceived in line with its renewed mandate, adopted by UNESCO’s Executive Board (209 EX/Dec.12). Among other aspects, the mandate entails consolidating and synergizing the work of the UNESCO in curriculum, fostering a forward-looking vision to contribute to equitable and inclusive education and sustainable development for all in the wake of global challenges and societal challenges. The Communications and Advocacy Specialist Officer will be responsible for communication and visibility activities of the IBE with a view to develop partnerships and to mobilize funds. Under the overall authority of the Assistant Director-General for Education (ADG/ED), the direct authority of the Director of UNESCO-IBE, the incumbent will support the coordination to: Long Description ---------------- - Assure proper implementation of the IBE Communication strategy, in order to develop the visibility of the IBE with a view to extending partnerships; - Develop and implement a communication plan with clear benchmarks to support the new partnerships building for resource mobilization; - Ensure good daily communication of information relating to the execution of the IBE work plan including events to potential partners and other stakeholders, including weekends and evenings if necessary; - Produce a range of communication and advocacy materials for an accessible non-technical audience (press releases, website texts, feature stories, brochures, posters, infographics and other audiovisual materials) and support their dissemination (electronic and print) at the national, regional and global levels; - Identify and work with relevant media organizations and networks in Geneva and at the international level to make sure IBE activities are made visible; ensure media planning and outreach on key education and other major media moments; - Supervise the work of the social media manager of the Institute to align messages for a stronger positioning of IBE and to develop and implement social media campaigns to foster greater engagement; - Propose targeted communication activities to increase the visibility of IBE’s Projects and Programmes; - Work with UNESCO Communication Officers at HQ as well as at regional and country levels to assure the visibility of IBE activities both globally and in the field; - Perform any other task related to communications as required.
