ROLE PURPOSE:

The Project Officer (PO) shall provide technical support to the project implementation ensuring that the organizational goals and strategic directions set by the country, especially in the areas of health and nutrition of the most excluded and vulnerable children. The PO also ensures child protection, risk reduction and resilience, climate change action and gender equality and disability and social inclusion guides the project. The Project Officer guides the project in demonstrating a developmental approach to programming defined with the active participation of children and relevant stakeholders. She/He works closely with the Technical Advisers from Save the Children Philippines and Save the Children UK and ascertains that the quality of program work meets the benchmarks. She/He will also work with the Department of Health and the local government units to align the project with the government’s health programs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • At least 4 years of experience in health work
  • Background in one or more of the following: health, disease surveillance and response, immunization, health promotion, socio-behavioral change communication and communications technology, child rights programming
  • Has experience successfully working with the local government health offices or the Department of Health regional and national offices
  • Strong writing skills in both English and Filipino
  • Effective communication and facilitation skills demonstrated by skills and knowledge in using various tools in simplifying concepts and frameworks in communicating with a wide range of audiences related to the program including children.
  • Critical thinking which is demonstrated by the ability to resolve program issues and integrate programs.
  • Experience in facilitating community and child participation, use of child rights approaches, gender development and inclusion principles in development or humanitarian settings.
  • Resilience to stress, can tolerate working under ambiguous circumstances), high flexibility to abrupt changes and can multitask
  • Strong sense of urgency and work ethics particularly in timeliness (organizing and prioritizing) and quality in programming. Understands and believes in Save the Children’s mission and vision; commits to its objectives and willing to adopt Save the Children’s methodology and framework

The job holder should develop a strong understanding of Save the Children’s vision and mission and should be committed to its principles and objectives. He/she should be willing to adopt the Save the Children methodology and framework in program implementation; and abide by and implement Save the Children’s Agency Policies including the Child Safeguarding Policy.
