This is a fixed term appointment with option to renew for an initial period of three (3) years following Section 3.1 (b) of Administrative Order No. 2.01 (“Recruitment and Appointment’). This appointment is not convertible to a regular appointment. After the initial fixed period, ADB has the option to renew the appointment for up to three years or allow it to expire. This decision is based on ADB’s overall interest in retaining the skills and experience of the staff for medium-term work program within the respective group, department, or office, while considering the availability of funding sources.

The position is assigned in the Uzbekistan Resident Mission (URM) within the Central and West Asia Department (CWRD). CWRD is responsible for maintaining client relations and delivering ADB assistance to countries in the Central and West Asia region. URM is responsible for policy dialogue, country reporting, country strategy and program formulation, regional cooperation, portfolio management, project administration, economic and sector work, financial and administrative activities, coordination of ADB's activities with the government, donors, nongovernment organizations, academic institutions, private sector, and other members of civil society, and external relations and information dissemination. The position will also contribute to the AFNR sector group.

Job Purpose

Project Officer will provide in-depth technical support to the development, implementation, and coordination of ADB’s agriculture, food, nature and rural development (AFNR) sector. The incumbent will lead and ensure that implementation of assigned projects and technical assistance (TA) are satisfactory based on technical, safeguards, financial management, contract award, and disbursement performance parameters and adherent to ADB’s respective policies, procedures, and controls.

The incumbent will provide support to the ADB URM in processing of sovereign and non-sovereign operations, portfolio management, undertaking thematic and AFNR sector work. The incumbent is expected to have regular interactions with government agencies, non-government organizations, development partners, private sector entities, academic institutions, and other members of civil society organizations to identifying partnership and/or investment opportunities and supporting policy development in AFNR sector and effective assessment of projects and programs in Uzbekistan.

The incumbent will report to Country Director, URM, and for sector matters, to the Director, Agriculture, Food, Nature, and Rural Development, South, Central and West Asia Team. The staff will also work with designated International Staff.

The selected candidate, if new to ADB, is appointed for an initial term of 3 years.
