Contract

This is a DRC - National contract. More about DRC - National contracts.

Are you an experienced project manager with high expertise in running complex projects with various stakeholders? Do you want to contribute to the Danish Refugee Council by making sure that our employees in our global HQ get the best possible office space while at the same time being mindful of budget constraints?

Who are we?

Our HQ in Copenhagen employes around 350 great people with various backgrounds and very various positions. In the canteen you can eat lunch with a Controller but also with a Global Emergency Coordinator. Together we support and enable our country operations around the world. We know that our workforce is the most important resource we have. Without our employees, we cannot deliver on our mission and vision.

Our global HQ has for a long time been in Borgergade 10, central Copenhagen. When you enter the building, you can feel the engagement and dedication of our colleagues, but you can also see that the office needs an upgrade. Just like many other organisations, we work from home at times and have a lot of Teams meetings with our fantastic colleagues around the world. We might call it “DRC Future workplace”, but what is more important than buzz words, is that we create a workplace that works for our employees.

About the job

We want to create an HQ that supports the work we do and that supports the well-being and performance of our employees. We have therefore decided to either make a total renovation of our current office space in central Copenhagen or to relocate to a new location in Copenhagen. We have already done a lot of work including finding a possible alternative location, but as the project is advancing, we need a full-time professional project manager to successfully manage the project.

The goal of the project and of the project manager is to ensure that DRC HQ has successfully either relocated to a new location or renovated our current office within the next 3 years.

You will report to the Head of HR for HQ&DK, but you will also work closely together with Facility Service and many other Departments such as IT and Finance and of course the steering group of the project.

Key responsibilities:

  • Overall project planning, budgeting and driving of the project
  • Internal stakeholder management
  • Negotiation with external stakeholders and providers
  • Change management and internal communication
  • Foresee and mitigate risks and challenges that could derail the project
  • Coordination of internal project group members/experts within different areas and other internal contributors

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to be able to work independently and to possess a high degree of emotional intelligence together with informal leadership skills. It is a clear benefit if you have previous experience with similar projects.

All employees should master DRC's core competencies: Communicating, Taking the lead, Collaborating, Striving for excellence and Demonstrating integrity.

Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required

  • Strong project manager toolbox, possibly from working in consulting (but please note that the salary level will be more modest than with most consultancy companies)
  • Ability to work independently (but don’t worry, you will not be lonely, and you will have a lot of laughs as well)
  • Analytical mindset and problem-solving skills (but we realise you are not a magician)
  • Proven skills in stakeholder management and building relationships, incl. having the ability to lead informally across the organisation (but your manager will have your back)
  • Ability to communicate complex topics in a clear and concise manner to senior management and the rest of the organisation, both verbally and in writing (but we also expect colleagues to be fair and supportive of you)
  • Ambitious and results-oriented with a natural can-do attitude (but again, we know you are not a magician)
  • Strong negotiation skills and generally high level of drive (but you will also have time-off and time to see your loved ones)
  • Fluency in English (but you don’t need to be native)

Desirable

  • At least some level of Danish skills
  • Sense of humor
