The position is located in the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe, in Venice, Italy. The European Commission, Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (DG MARE), has launched the European Ocean Coalition (EU4Ocean) for supporting collective actions in the field of Ocean Literacy in Europe. IOC-UNESCO will support and strengthen the activities of the coalition, building on its Ocean Literacy expertise and networks to contribute to the achievement of the overall objectives of the EU4Ocean coalition. The incumbent will act as reference point for all financial aspects connected with the UNESCO Ocean Literacy Project activities included in the EU4Ocean coalition. The core activities of the incumbent are to maintain budgetary/financial records, to review budget codes keeping the supervisor informed, to prepare all documentation needed for contracts, to prepare status reports for budget, and to support in the organization of events. Within this framework, the incumbent shall maintain the following responsibilities: Long Description ---------------- **Project support:** - Assist the Supervisor in the implementation of project activities: track, retrieve, search files, reports, other records and past practices; collect and collate background information; prepare and format presentations, reports, according to UNESCO standards and formats; - Prepare budgetary monitoring information; - Alert the Supervisor of errors/omissions/discrepancies observed and undertake corrective action; - Assist the Supervisor and the Ocean Literacy Team ensuring overall coordination and the smooth running of the operations; **Administrative support:** - Provide administrative support to the Ocean Literacy activities; - Initiate contractual documents; - Prepare supporting documents for travel, contract approval and payments in compliance with UNESCO programme and budgetary requirements and financial regulations; - Provide administrative and organizational support for events/meetings/workshops/seminars including all aspects of logistics arrangements and follow-up.
