This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

This position is for national or legal resident of the country of assignment (Italy).

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Head of Office or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer Project Support Officer will:

perform a variety of project and administrative support activities to ensure the effective implementation of the technical and administrative work in the Investment for Health area of work: Well-being Economy (WBE), Social Determinants of Health (SDH) and Health Sector Economy Initiative. The incumbent will be required to

  1. Support collaborative initiatives including expert meetings and intercountry policy dialogues. Assists with the administrative preparation and conduct of online meetings, webinars, and policy dialogues in accordance with WHO established procedures. Takes notes at meetings.
  2. Support preparation, delivery and follow-up to country technical assistance missions. Provides support for travel arrangements using GSM in accordance with established procedures, prepares approval memoranda, travel authorizations
  3. Liaise with candidate consultants to collect supporting documents, assist technical officers in finalizing terms of reference, selection report and approval memo, processes agreements for contracts as required and related correspondence follows up on deadlines of such agreements/contracts and prepares payment instructions.
  4. Coordinates appointments for technical staff and organizes programs for visitors, organizes project meetings, Including liaising with partners, WHO technical staff and scientific experts.
  5. Supporting the development of technical assistance documents including advocacy products. Initiates and follows-up clearance processes for publications.
  6. Assists or replaces other secretaries and/or programme assistants in the unit or department should the need arise.
  7. Performs other related duties as required.

the national and/or international level in administrative assistance or other relevant areas; • Experience with latest IT technologies and trends is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization; • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills; • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment; • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines; • Familiarity with WHO online administrative system (GSM) would be an advantage although a job training will be provided.
